They wrote the same episode twice

Both episodes feature a female officer being abducted and later participating in a fight to the death, which both parties survive. In further coincidence, both episodes are the fourth episodes of their shows' first season.

From the Memory Alpha page:

At a Star Trek panel at DragonCon 2010, Star Trek: Voyager actor Garrett Wang said this episode "stinks", to which LeVar Burton agreed, adding, "Without question." Furthermore, Wang attributed his viewing of the episode as the reason why he ended up landing the role of Harry Kim, stating that, had he watched another episode of TNG, he would have been "too nervous" during his audition, as he would have ended up being a big fan of the show: "So three times I tried watching [the series] and I realized God was telling me 'Do not watch Star Trek: The Next Generation'." Her writing did, at least, improve for thr Stargate episode. And while this is clearly an instance of the authors undisguised fetish, Powers isn't responsible for the "Africa planet" casting in TNG, which was done at the whims of the casting director, who was promptly fired after this episode, so I've heard. Originally they were going to be Reptilian, I think?

Welcome to a Star Trek community where you’re free to chat and share your opinions about all things Trek!

I want to have a place where fans can come to praise, discuss, and even criticise things in the Star Trek franchise. No show or movie is perfect, and I don't believe people should be silenced for having a dissenting opinion. That being said, there are still a few rules.

Be Nice - No personal attacks. You can disagree with someone's opinion, but it needs to stop there.

No Slurs - This is applicable to ethnicity, religion, gender, or anything else.

No Adult Content - Keep it family friendly.

No Spamming or Trolling - Consistently spamming comments or trolling is just not needed.

Keep Topics Trek Related - This is a Star Trek community, so of course discussion should stay in that area! That means no real world politics.
