Who's your favorite lyricist in the folk punk genre and why?

For me, I've gotta say Sean Bonnette. There's just something special about every album that AJJ puts out.

If you consider The Weakerthans as folk punk, then John K Samson for me.

The Virtute the Cat saga makes me weep. I've had some difficulties with my mental health over the years and the thought of something similar happening to my cat has given me the drive to push through it all.

I'm between the most obvious choice, Pat; and Chloe Defector. I love Pats blend of writing about anarchism and mental health issues and problems with punk/anarchist subcultures, with reassurances and self-criticism and valuable insights. And don't get me started on how his extensive discography, up to and including Friends In Real Life, portrait such an interesting and teaching view on the developement of him and his ideas, both on anarchism and ways to live in this society despite it all. (also, he was my intro to Folk Punk). And Chloe, I just relate to her writing even more. A lot of that valuable insight as well, and powerful songs about anarchist struggle, and beautiful songs about keeping going through pain.
