Remember when using AI looked cool in fiction? Why can't it look cool now?

It is very useful for a whole lot of things. But it is like a hammer. A single tool with some functions, but you're going to have a bad time if you think you can fix everything with a hammer. Also not worth burning the world for.
the future is now...

Designed to produce body heat. Zhuoyide Robotics’ humanoid robot Moya, very MOYAist.
Skynet seems like a fair prediction.
AI is indeed fiction, at least today. But who knows what tomorrow holds?
Yeah, this is the part that it feels like 80% of the world missed and/or doesn't understand. The techbros usurped the term "AI", applied it to this generative token predicting garbage, and renamed the other stuff "AGI". In today's terms if we want to look back at all that cool 'AI' stuff from movies and science fiction past, we need to call that stuff "AGI" to level set the terminology.

The underlying technology is still very cool, just the way it is shoved down everyones throats is not, and the way they suck up everything humans created.
