WomensStuff weekend positivity...What are you totally dominating at if it were an Olympic event?

In all seriousness, I’m trying to get better at photography. I’ll make it someday.
We'd love a new userpic if you ever have a photo you could let us use! You're really talented
I will try. What sort of photo do you want?
My bf is a million times better photographer than me, but I've learnt a lot from seeing how he composes shots, what he looks for- angles, the lighting, quirky things too
Its good fun, even though I'm still crap
I shot this in an iPhone 11 back in October. It’s hanging in my house on canvas now.
You can make almost anything with the phone you’ve already got!

Definetly!
I know that you can do more with an actual camera, lenses, tripod etc, but lugging it around can be a pain. Both me and the bf have gotten good shots with phones (well, him more than me), and using the edit features can really "make" them pop
I love the graffiti in your photo, and the fact the alleyway is clean! If I went and took a similar photo near me they'd be all sorts of filth, including shit everywhere... now my bf likes that kind of dingy urban filth in his photos, but not me, that's the last place I want to be at night or early morning
Photography as a hobby has been widely democratized, and for better or worse, anyone can get into it with the camera they most likely are already taking with them everywhere, for free.
You can always improve, just by practicing composition with the tools in your pocket! My first camera was built into a Motorola V3 RAZR, and that’s what I learned on! I only switched to an actual DSLR just fourteen short months ago, up until then I was shooting with a steadily-improving array of smartphone cameras.
Every camera is a good camera. Practice, and do your best!
Setting up in my new house. Between building furniture and learning to deal with all sorts of maintenance issues the people around me think I’m some sort of demigod lol…when it’s really “I want this thing and no one is going to do it for me.”
I'm going be doing this soon! I'm quite practical anyway, and there's the internet for help and also just taking your time, it was pretty nerve wracking replacing my extractor fan, ceiling rose and smoke alarm....but I did it with trembling hands, and everything works
Me and the bf designed and built a workspace and wardrobe/storage thing, but I think I'd be able to do it myself if I had to
I think once you've had a go and managed it successfully, you learn what went wrong, what you'd do differently, and then have the confidence and skills to do more challenging jobs
A lot of these things are actually quite straight forward, no demi god abilities required!
The electrics for these are straight forward, certainly here in the UK, and the proper info on the internet (actual diy websites) I've found to be accurate. Also the smoke alarm and bathroom extractor came with installation instructions
Do you have a photo of the IKEA bookcase? I've got a few IKEA things which worked well in my flat, I know they get criticised sometimes, but if you get the solid wood rather than the particle board their furniture does last
My house is over 100 years old and it’s wired crazily so I prefer not to mess with lights. Not specifically yet because I have to buy a new boiler, but the ilea bookcase project just looks like a few basic cases with some lumber added and paint. The end result is pretty cool so I may just outright build the whole contraption myself with better quality wood taking inspiration from these projects.
I love old time skills like that! It's creative Wednesday next Wednesday you should totally showcase some of yoir stuff
I've made some wet felt bowls which was great fun, and quite easy too!
I think next time I'd use the washing machine less hassle, although my hands were incredibly soft and exfoliated with the other method
Bowls are super fun. Be careful with the washing machine, though. I've ruined a few projects believing they would get done faster and easier, but they just ended up uneven with fibres from everything else mixed in (my bad for putting it in with a load of clothing.)
A light drier cycle does wonders once everything is pretty well felted together and just needs extra rubbing. The heat helps, too.
Thanks for the pro tips!
I've seen some amazing pieces on Pinterest years ago that was felted with silky ribbon bits. I just love the colours that you can get now with wool tops and all the lovely silky fibres to mix in, so much more variety than years ago, and potential
No problem. Felting with silk (or other fibres) is called nuno felting, if you want to get into that. I like to mix it up with cheesecloth and burlap for added textures, too. Loads of possibilities.
Competitive ambidextrous stirring
As a lefty growing up in a right handed world, I learned how to do a lot with my right hand. In high school AP bio we had a project that involved spreading something onto a gel medium in a Petri dish. I was the only person in my class who could efficiently do this task with both hands. I remember how everyone was amazed watching me switch back and forth between my hands. I still do this when I’m stirring during cooking and baking.
It’s a kick ass skill 😎
I've done a few things mentioned in the comments here, but I'd be so incredibly shit at this...respect!

I’m the best at not doing the olympics, the best there ever was. Never competed even once, you can check for yourself!
