Autumn Hill (a trans woman) was sentenced to 50 years of prison in a men’s facility for attending the Prairieland anti-ICE protest. She left before shots were fired. She did nothing but legally exercise her first amendment rights.
Reminder that trans people are considered "probable domestic terrorists" by this administration.
The explosives charge is especially bullshit because the law against it explicitly states that it does not apply to commercial fire works, which is what they set off outside the facility (not aimed at the facility)
They are trying to make an example out of these innocent people. The judge that allowed this farce of a trial needs to be held accountable for his obvous maliciously biased ruling
I remember saying back in 2018, when the blatantly corrupt Kavanaugh was elevated into SCOTUS, "once the fascists have stacked the courts, it's game over". I stand by that assertion.
It was also based on the fact that the Heritage foundation, and other fascist terrorist orgs, had focused Trump's first term on stacking lower level courts with hundreds of criminal judges; more than any other president in modern history.
This shit leaves me so fucking scared. I feel for her, that's a fucking nightmare. They just destroyed her life for doing nothing, the monsters.
They are just getting started. Soon, these people will disapear never to be heard from again.
Nah, it's more profitable for them to fill their privately-owned prisons
They are a symptom of a deeper problem.
Ironically, trump might be the only reason America even has an out. Groups like the heritage Foundation have been building the machinery in the shadows for decades. Trump came along and found it. Instead of going along, he grabbed the reins and shouted YEAH HARR! before it was fully ready.
They scrambled badly in his first term, they are using his 2nd to try and lock things in, with what they have in place.
Basically, dealing with trump is like kicking a mushroom fruit, and calling it a day. It will just grow back, unless you tear its hidden tendrils out completely.
Americans... SMH
Hah.
That's one way of looking at things I guess...
"Other countries are worse than us so it's fine"
If you make a list of all the countries which are locking up trans people for being trans, it's not exactly a club to aspire to.
I never said or implied "worse". That was you.
My point is that fascism is on the rise worldwide. Here's my next point: Like it or not, what happens in the US will eventually affect you. We all live on the same planet and in the same information ecosphere. So maybe we should collectively take action to improve our lives and stop cruelty, instead of trying to win the Stupid Internet Points Game.
Have a good day!

Some people are just glossing over some of the really disturbing things that happened there. Like this really disturbs me.
"with the Justice Department reporting that one of them was struck non-fatally in the neck area. "
What is even more disturbing is the charge
"Hill was convicted for riot, providing material support to terrorists and conspiracy to use and carry an explosive—namely the fireworks used at the protest. She has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. That’s more than double the sentences of former Proud Boys chairman Enrique Tarrio and Oath Keepers Founder Stewart Rhodes, who were key leaders in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol."
Note it says providing material support but all that does mean is being present there and a part of it. So the headline does not lie. 50 years for attending. I mean is it going to be 25 years for passing by?
