Who here has found it hard being different?

ASD did hit my social and emotional side with a sledgehammer. So relationships of any kinda are rather hard, though not in the sense that i need to find right people with whom I'd connect with, but that the connection part itself is just an empty meaningless word.

Basically automatically becoming a recluse, because there isn't any internal drive or reason to seek out or maintain any relationships.

On avarage people do value relationships rather highly to many even considering those being paramount.

So maintaining that aspect takes a lot of effort with minimal payoff/benefits and i only do it as little as possible.

Oh god, this is one of the things that make life so incredibly frustrating for me. I do want people close to me I do know where I could find them but I just... don't care. Kinda. Like, sure, I like spending time with the few people that I feel comfortable with but even that wears out quickly.

The ADHD part of me would love to meet new people and go on dates but the ASD me refuses all of that. I'd almost always prefer time alone over maintaining (newly found) relationships.

I haven't found it hard at all. Being different just comes naturally to me!

Not just hard, but often impossible even. Bullied to shit in daycare, schools, jobs.. Currently unemployed and not fit for work. Even my nurse thinks I shouldn't have any friends or a spouse, yet I do have found my people.

School was hard. Work was worse. Being alone is mostly ok though. Sometimes you find this one person who finds the differences charming instead of off-putting

Bit of a biased sample frame for that question

It's hard at first. But it gets better. Eventually you find people who match your freak and other people's opinions matter much less.
