"One of the biggest successes of neoliberalism was convincing most that depression can ONLY result from deranged internal chemical imbalances rather than as normal reaction to external shittiness"

I was depressed to the point of nearly killing myself at one point in my life. It was because I had a job I hated. It got to the point that I had to see a doctor who I somehow convinced I didn't need to be on suicide watch (I should have been). I turned down any prescription drugs he said he could give because I knew it was my job and I didn't want to be made "ok" enough to do it. Anyway I found a new job not long after and haven't been depressed since.

I've also realised recently that if you live in a liberal society then even if you do feel like killing yourself at any point, you absolutely cannot say this - unless with confidentiality e.g to a doctor or lawyer. And even then....

Ask me why? Well, because telling official lines of enquiry that you've felt suicidal thoughts flags you and suddenly you cannot work a vast number of jobs or volunteering positions.

The wording is always fucking stupid too: they say "have you ever contemplated suicide." Or "have you ever thought about suicide."

To even hear the word is to think about suicide!!!! This is a trap to get more honest people, or more literally-minded people, to answer in the affirmative.

Society then lovebombs you with "support" or constant reminders about suicide. Which does nothing to help, but rather forces you to think about it more

Well, no. That is not what is meant, and if you honestly think that, then you've got some sort of neurospicy stuff happening. Or you're being hyperbolic.

If that is what they meant, then they would get either 100% "Well, yes, since you bring the concept up" or they would be able to say "You can't not think about the word now that we've mentioned it, so clearly you're lying and unfit for this position" or whatever. And because that's not how anyone treats it, you know it cannot be true.

The rest of your post I have not addressed as I have no major disagreements.

Technically we can expand upon it further.

How intensely we have to have been thinking about suicide for it to count for this question. Like would saying out of frustration count, for example multiple things going wrong throughout the day and then saying "oh just kill me already" or do we have to have been deep throating a double barrel for it to count and of course depending on other circumstances. Like there aren't any dependants, then ending it is always a legitimate option, would keeping that sort of an option open count as well.

Fair enough i got carried away with hyperbole. Sorry for being obtuse - sometimes i feel like i need to type more to make my comment worthwhile and just end up typing nonsense

Ain't no worries. With my ADHD, I do have that happen a lot. My brain doesn't always realize where I'm expecting people to fill in the gaps I didn't realize I left, for one. hehe

...personally I think that if a person just hears the word suicide and therefore thinks of committing it that person probably has like VERY seriois psychosis symptoms and they need so much help that Im concerned for them.

Typically it is shitty life events that make most people think of committing suicide nowadays like being ghosted by your wife or a severe injury that has ruined your life and livelihood or the death or ostracization of a friend you loved dearly.

No, the biggest achievement of neoliberalism is an immense shareholder value and a person who became more rich than Gilgamesh
