Love it. Just be careful. They don't call it cracktorio for nothing. Also always remember. No matter what people tell you. Or what you find online. If it works. It works. The only right way to play is if your enjoy playing.

100% this. I've seen so many people say "I don't have the brain power/I'm not smart enough to play Factorio" but you can still enjoy the game plenty enough without putting any thought at all into what you're doing.

I plan things out because I enjoy planning these things out, but I have a friend who usually beats me in Factorio randomizers because he just slaps something down that works and waits for it to churn out something, meanwhile I'm having my own fun planning out perfect ratios, optimizing placements, and designing a better factory. By the time I have an order list of what machines I'll need to build, my friend has already finished two science packs and is expanding them to double his production.

In my opinion both styles of play are perfectly valid, and the both of us still have our fun playing the same game in very different ways.

You don't need to restart, there's always oil, you just need to explore for it. And maybe clear some biters that may or may not be sitting on it

Great starting base. Good job. Only 2 comments is you have extra inserters on your iron smelter row and you won't have room to output your steel... You can fix both with a minor change, can you find it?

If you find your ore pressure dropping on the belt you can place the miners closer together. the glowing areas can overlap with other miners.

Make sure you get all those furnaces upgraded to steel furnaces - they burn coal at the same speed but work twice as fast, so save a bunch of coal.
