I moved 180 miles from my hometown and was astounded by the immensely expanded diversity of lizards (and similar) that I see frequently.
Hometown:
- Green anoles
- Brown anoles
- Five-lined skinks (rarely seen)
Current town
- Green anoles
- Brown anoles
- Five lined skinks
- Cuban knight anoles
- Scrub lizards
- Glass lizards
- Curly tail lizards
- Green iguanas
- Rock agamas
- Basilisk lizards
- House geckos
A wildlife spotting website says my hometown has a lot more of those species than I knew, but I never saw them there.
Found. And feel slightly jealous of people that live places where lizards are commonly found, I basically only get to see my pet lizard or lizards at zoos, and while those are nice, it's not the same as finding an unexpected one.
