Rural MAHA followers say Trump hasn’t improved health of their communities, an AP-KFF poll finds

A new AP-KFF poll finds that the Make America Healthy Again movement has a substantial following among rural voters, but most don't think President Donald Trump's healthcare policies have benefited their communities.

About half of rural voters identify with Make America Healthy Again, a sprawling political movement championed by the Trump administration, but most said Donald Trump’s healthcare policies have not benefited their communities, according to a new poll from The Associated Press in partnership with KFF.

About 8 in 10 rural voters — an important voting bloc for Trump and fellow Republicans — said the Trump administration’s policies have had a negative effect or no impact on the health of people where they live. Most MAHA supporters, 68%, also feel this way, according to the national survey of more than 2,000 rural registered voters.

The findings signal an apparent disconnect between the Trump administration’s MAHA-branded policy priorities and rural America’s perception of their reach and effectiveness.

Needle has barely started to move honestly, each upcoming year will be successively worse until we see a generation of dead kids from preventable illnesses, and even then...

I think a lot about the Sagan quote about how we'll drift off, our faculties in decline, into an age of crystal-gazing. It's already happened so bad. I can't watch reality TV, even like the Rehearsal, because by episode 2 there's a numerologist who believes in Satanic murders. Too stupid to live, but happily voting. America.

In his first term Trump was going to kick some 700,000 off food stamp's, it went to court and lost, Biden didn't challenge that court loss,

they then voted for it again and I'm sure when asked...

I disagree. If they are closer to death, I'd call that an improvement.

Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.
