Any organisation that is permitted to regulate or investigate itself is intrinsically corrupt and unfit for purpose.

Except it’s the rest of society they are throwing the dynamite at.

I have never ONCE had even a TINY bit of fear about AI.

100% of the problem is the people who control it and what they're doing with it with absolutely no oversight by anybody who knows what they're doing, every single goddamn one of them hoisted by their own petard.

LLMs will not become Strong AI. It's a lie that is being sold to investors. Connecting autocomplete to a command prompt and looking away was deemed "escaping containment". They've got us chomping at the bit for software regulatory capture.

How are these guardrails implemented, who is responsible for enacting them?

The AI companies will literally write the law. It'll be a million little rules to keep tigers away, while coincidentally making compliance impossible for small competitors or FOSS users.

Welp, it diplays correctly on mastodon and sh.itjust.works. 🤷

I wonder if alt text over on Beige.party is breaking formatting here on Piefed. Could be a question for the community, if I had my act together.

My mod flair is showing up from my other community so might just be some glitchiness at the moment.

Exactly. We need regulation, not self-implemented guardrails that don't work half the time.

Right.

Guardrails != Regulation

But also, we as a society need to understand when it would be better to ask or employ a real human than to use "AI".
