Britain helped to kill ‘Zionism is Racism’ resolution at the UN

Britain launched a “world wide lobbying exercise” to overturn a landmark United Nations (UN) resolution which recognised Zionism as racism, declassified files reveal.
The information is in a private exchange between John Major’s foreign secretary Douglas Hurd and pro-Israel lobbyist Sir Trevor Chinn in 1992.
Weeks earlier, the UN General Assembly had voted to revoke Resolution 3379 which designated Zionism as a form of “racism and racial discrimination”.
I for one am glad that many years have passed and this Sir Trevor Chinn chap is no longer poisoning our democracy with all his rotten money.
Now let me just consult this newspaper to confirm this situation... Oh God no!
Well, if you're the government responsible for the existence of modern-day Israel, makes sense that you'd want to whitewash that tomb. I mean, why do the right thing when that means admitting that you were wrong, amirite?

Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

It feels quite irresponsible to leave "in 1991" out of that headline. This isn't about something new that happened
