Any medical types willing to explain / speculate what's causing this posture?

Could be plain old hypermobility. My knees will bend kind of like that if I'm leaning against something and not being particularly careful to make sure I'm standing in a "normal" posture.

This looks like his knees are angled inwards (genu valgum) rather than hyperextended knees/hypermobility.

There’s another condition when knees bend backwards farther than normal, in some cases it is quite extreme.

I have a lesser similar thing, which is why I'm asking. One leg being more extreme. Foot can point out with knee pointing straight.

Was curious if it means anyrhing I should be careful of.

Should probably just ask a doctor >.>

Would be hard to tell without a view from the front. Could be anything from hyper mobility, femoral retro version, tibial torsion, or mix of a few of them.

genetics probably. My feet naturally rotate and touch the ground when I sit. I got it from my grandad who used to call it "duck feet"

i can do 180Β° with no pain

this is as far as I can go

I got some of the hypermobility genes, but my sister got more. She can do a full split without practicing in years

This thread has really brought unity to Lemmy's slue foot community.

Same here, but it causes some minor pain / disconfort if I let them hang that way too long. Have to consciously point them up

Oh God his knees are facing forward though. That is someone looking at a lifetime of pain. Hips rotate, that's how ballet turnout works. Not by torquing your knees. Keep your knees pointing in the same direction as your toes, or pay for it in pain.

A rare success story with a $25 online doctor was having them confirm my knee pain was from squatting wrong at work and how to correct my form and which exercises to do while idling. It helps that I had the background to google the muscle anatomy of the knee, pinpoint which muscle / ligament felt wrong, then google what usually causes that, see frequent squatting on the list, and immediately correlate that to the experience of being a nurse on a unit where none of the beds are motorized (on a proper medical unit the beds just raise the whole patient to working height. I have to get my whole self down to that level if a patient requires more intensive care, which is why we're not supposed to get patients that need ADL assistance but I digress).

That foot position undeniably pushes the pelvis forward, so he can smear his just-came-in pants all over the front part of the counter that other people have to lean on. Imagine a child, or a Vertically-Challenged Person, briefly leaning their tired head against that and wondering why their hair was sticky when they moved their head away. It's not right, people. This is vile. And it's people like this who make me afraid to go out in public. That and all the duendes.
