I doubt AI will be considered horrible enough for there to be consensus.
It's wishful thinking it'll happen in your life time. Sort of a second coming situation in some ways.
The path is never as clear as it seems. Expect many setbacks. Emotions are fleetingly. The Truth is sacred. Make sure you're following it and not emotions.
It takes about a decade. ~15 years to be really solid.
5 more years and I'll bet you you won't be able to find a Trump or Brexit voter and the COVID lockdowns will be seen as a mistake. 5 more years and everybody will say they objected to the lockdown back in 2020.
We haven't yet reached the 5 year mark of LLMs being big news. Rational discussion is on the fringes, but you can see it coming. At the 10 year mark all the negative issue will be plain to see and all public discourse will be negative. 5 more year and everybody will claim they never used it in the first place.
You and I think the same. It's an insult to frogs to use the metaphor of "frogs in boiling water'. Humans are the idiots and the ones staying in boiling water and saying it's fine.

I'm so glad my social history isn't evil. Not for me, but for my children's children. Who wants to be the grandchild of a piece of shit? I stood & stand up for humanity as a sometimes hopeful & encouraging human who always speaks up against evil. Been fighting Trump for like 15-16 years or some shit.
