Russia behind Britain's Brexit vote, UK prime minister admits for first time

21 hours ago by CAVOK to c/europe

"These things are important now to put clearly on the record and, I believe, help voters in Germany and France understand that some of this politics is instigated via our enemies, namely Russia," media reports Burnham saying.

No shit. Still, it's disappointing how easily our society is collapsing.

Yeah, it was a rug pull in every way though. Don't let the UK leaders off the hook because they went all in and went through with it. They had a "let's see how you feel" vote and then said it was "the people's choice" and went through with it. Russia really laughed at the US and the UK.

Ukraine is our saving grace and the US treats them like shit. That is a proxy war for us and trump is helping russia. Every trumper is a traitor, whether they know it or not.

I kept saying back in the 2000's that the internet was a wide open propaganda-hole, just waiting for Russia or China to use it to spread propaganda. And everyone was like "why you worried about the internet? it's funny cat videos n stuff" or "no way, people get their propaganda from the New York Times" and I was like "Nobody trusts the news anymore because of Iraq! Everyone's gonna start getting their news from some random guy on the internet!"

I swear I said all this in 2006. I started saying this after I witnessed both my far-left leaning friend and my right/libertarian friend both hate NATO.

I also noticed my far-left leaning friend was starting to push very heavily on trans rights. And while I personally love trans people, I knew a lot of people, especially women, were going to have a problem with it. I also predicted that one day this will piss enough people off that America will elect a fascist and invade us (Canada).

I also predicted that one day computer programming as a career will be obsolete, because our bosses will be able to just say into a computer what they want it to do, and it will translate their human language into machine language.

But now all I can predict is when the milk is going to go bad.

It's truly a bummer that divisiveness and baser human emotions are so much more effectively manipulated than our more impressive ones.

I don't know if it's easier to manipulate people into baser emotions, I think the sort of people who want to foster the more noble emotions just aren't interested in manipulating people at scale like that. Perhaps that should change.

Fine. Now that the obvious things have been stated, can we please also identify the figureheads of Brexit, Johnson and Farage, as Russian assets, and proceed accordingly?

I mean.

Yeah.

but also the fucking Tories.

Russia weren't the ones putting their face on the side of buses covered in Lies, they just promoted the hell out of it.

That said I realize it might be an economic bummer but the EU should let them back in purely for cultural and security reasons. Letting them further alienate their identity not a good idea. It having been a Russian operation being justification for that sounds fine to me.

Here's the original Observer article that this article references, if that helps.

The Observer reports that Burnham made his comments on one of the U.K.'s biggest politics podcasts, The Rest is Politics, with the episode set to come out Oct. 12.
