That was going to be my exact critique. You cannot control the results, but you do have control over the actions you take.
How good are you at accepting this?

I can't accept nonconsensual suffering as "okay"
I think the OP is trying to reference the concept of radical acceptance. It's about accepting your current reality, no matter how painful it may be. It's not about condoning said reality, but merely accepting that it's your current truth. From accepting it, you can then figure out how to work with it. Any text worth its salt describing radical acceptance will make absolutely sure you are aware that it isn't about condoning someone's actions.
It's a fucking difficult concept, but it does help as a jumping off point in my experience.
I'm kind of reminded of daoism as well. Daoism emphasizes the importance of working within one's nature. There are many things in life we unfortunately cannot change. But we can work with this and find our own path in the process.
what you describe feels more buddhist to me. I always felt the desire causes suffering thing comes across right. more desire for things to not be what they are causes discontent. so peace can be found through acceptance. can still work to change it or find another path but that is the future the present is as it is.
Is it though? I mean, it does happen. It is what it is, but I want to come to terms with it not being okay.
not at all. whatever happens. happens. yeah sure. thats ok. not necessarily. sometimes its very not ok.
So imagine you got a nice car. Some idiot destroys it. Do you just accept whatever or do you sue for damages?
People think nihilism is something that will hurt you. But once you see that it will actually free you...

I would change it to "...whatever is outside my control happens..."
The meme version implies we have no control over anything, which we certainly do.
