Okay, question from a european. Is this a sink with an integrated shredder? And if so, how do these work? Could one gez hurt by sticking a limb into it, orwhat safety mechanism are at place here? :3

Yeah it has a garbage disposal. The “blades” inside aren’t actually sharp like a knife, they are metal but they chop they don’t cut. I’ve fished out plenty of things from it over the years so I know for sure it’s not sharp or dangerous inside, unless it’s on, when it’s on it’s a bit scary, I do have a reverence for the garbage disposal lol that said Lou’s legs aren’t even long enough to reach so he’ll never have to worry about it

Also, just because it hasn't been set yet, disposals are activated by an electrical switch, typically built into a wall near the sink. They aren't activated by pressure or anything like that. It's not likely that they would turn on unintentionally (outside a Final Destination movie). You can safely fish objects out of them when needed, even manually rotate the gears/blades if something is stuck.

Yes you would get seriously hurt if you touched the blades, which is why they're located far down into the drain pipe where you can't reach them with your fingers. But don't test that, you don't know if it was correctly installed to code

I reach into mine all the time, especially if something falls in that doesn't belong. I have the same brand, "In-sink-er-ator," and it's only about (EDIT) 20 cm deep. The "blades" aren't sharp, it's the speed with which they independently rotate, catching the food between them and battering it to pieces. There's a rubbery flange to keep stuff from flying out, you can remove it to clean or see if you dropped your wedding ring in there. It won't grind unless you flip the wall switch, which is in reach so you can turn it off if you're stupid enough to get your hand in it while it's going. It could cause serious injury but you'd survive.

Plumbers make a lot of money unclogging drains of people who forget that even though the garbage disposal can grind something, it can still form a clog down in the drainpipes.

I wish we had those sinks in Europe. Why not build a house with best ideas from around the world FFS?

Give me US of A sinks, Japanese toilets, a fridge full of French and Italian products and Swiss (old) air dryers (some flats have those metallic wardrobe that blows hot air for drying clothes. Not a machine where everything gets wrinkled, just a simple wardrobe).

The drying wardrobe sounds great for clothes, especially in cold/wet climates, but I like a tumble dryer for fluffing the towels. Count me in on the Japanese toilets!

Doesn't even need to be a metallic wardrobe.

Air just needs to be warm and dry.

But yea, better idea than a tumble dryer.
