Odd Taxi
Steins;Gate
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex (seasons 1 & 2)
Shinsekai Yori
Totally underrated show
Love all 3 of these. Phenomenal list
Cowboy Bebop is timeless.
Fate Stay Night: UBW and other Fate series.
Currently enjoying Jujutsu Kaisen.
Gintama and Nichijou.
Golden Boy!
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica is absolute best.
Spice and Wolf, No game no life, Baccano, Chihayafuru, Amagi Briliant Park, Ore Monogatari, or even Kakegurui, Black Lagoon, Jormungand, Gurren Lagann for series.
Ghost in the Shell for movies (Madoka also is in a movie form). I haven't seen many movies, Spirited Away was OK, but not really for me.
I used to like Bakemonogatari, but after the years I'm not sure I would enjoy anything after Senjougahara's arc. Angel Beats was also fun, but in a silly way. Aho girl is pure silliness.
Wow didn't expect to see Amagi Brilliant Park here haha. It's not one of my favourites but, to say it weirdly, it's an easily rememberable show :O
I'm also slated for a rewatch of the monogatari series, I stopped watching after the weird creepy girl arc (Ougi ?), even though Bakemonogatari is one of my favourites, though I'm as well not sure how much I will like in after all this time.
And I have yet to watch Madoka Magica but it's planned, for someday.
Have 4 hours ready when trying to watch Madoka. If after the first hour you won't be into it, just drop it - but endure the first hour.
If you'll like it, you will want to see it all. It's 12 episodes (or 2 2hr movies), so it's manageable.
Amagi was on the funny and relaxing side, kinda like Chihayafuru, only more fan-servicey.
Yeah I will watch it at some point, sadly I have been spoiled that there is a plot twist and ofwaht nature so I won't get a big reveal.
I'm keep it on my to watch list for a rainy day.
To be honest, I rewatch it every now and then, and it's still powerful, and it honestly makes me emotional every time. Almost no other piece of media has that effect on me. Even though I remember it vividly, it's still amazing, and doesn't lose it's impact.
So don't worry about spoilers, the plot is great, but only one part of the experience. Soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, and visuals are on their own league (it's Shaft, and a very specific style). Even if you know the plot, and haven't seen it, I can basically guarantee that it will suck you in, and the pacing will make sure you won't be bored.
10/10, I need to watch it again
I love rewarching Jormungand, Koko is amazing, and the whole story flows nicely.
Baccano I never rewatched, still scarred by that crying kid, I don't even know if it was the OVA or the first season, but I don't dare to find out. Amazing anime, but one-time only.
Most of my top picks have been said already, but none has mentioned Vivy yet.
So. I'll say Vivy
Padme: The old one, right?
I really liked Grimgar and wish it would get more seasons someday. It's in a sort of Isekai fantasy setting, but the way they go about making every part of that situation seem realistic and horrible is great. From having no food or money to how horrible it actually is to have to stab something to death felt like a really fresh take on the genre at the time. Just be warned that you'll have to pick up the light novels to continue the story. It's no berserk '97 cliff hanger, but you definitely want to know what's up with the world and why they're even there which isn't covered in the anime.
Also, on topic, berserk '97.
Same, I recently talked about Grimgar to a friend recently.
From what I just checked, the show didn't very well in Japan and one of the companies that worked on it went under. We probably won't every see a direct continuation at this point I believe sadly.
But apparently the light novel is going pretty strong currently sitting at 19 volumes, so if the world really interests you, you could read that.
Since some of my favorites are already mentioned, Macross Plus. Great mecha, great voice acting, great music. Plot is a little weird.
-Og Fullmetal Alchemist, because brotherhood was probably already recommended to the entire world.
-Ga-Rei-Zero
-Jin-Rou
-Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san
-Houseki no Kuni
-Aku no Hana (yes, THAT anime adaptation).
-Top wo Nerae! Gunbuster (or og Gurren Lagann, if you will)
-Toradora!
-Kaiba
-Shiki (people should talk more about this and Kaiba, this one has also one of the best Special episodes I've ever seen)
-Higurashi no naku Koro ni (not sotsugou for god's sake).
-Shinsekai Yori.
In general, in a world where the conversations around horror anime almost always shift towards Elfen Lied and Another (where neither is particularly great in my opinion), I think Shiki, Higurashi and Shinsekai Yori also deserve their place in mainstream conversations (more than the first two, I'd even say).
Tekkonkinkreet (2006 film)
Maze - Megaburst Space
Code Geass

I'm a bit surprised to not see any of the Eden of the East series listed. I fucking love them.
AD Police Files and Parasite Dolls, but not the AD police remake from the 2000s
Bubblegum Crisis and Bubblegum Crash!, but not Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040
Heaven's Lost Property
Neon Genesis Evangelion, End of Evangelion, and all four Rebuild of Evangelion movies
Darling in the Franxx, except the last like 3 or 4 episodes, whenever the space part happened
Trigun, but not the recent "reboot"
Claymore (the end was kinda mid)
Overlord
Goblin Slayer
AKIRA
Sei Juushii Bismark, and its english "adaptation" Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
SDF Macross and Macross II Lovers Again, but no other Macross entries, and the english "adaptation" Robotech
Konosuba, but not the Megumin spin-off (it was okay, maybe mid at best)
Samurai Troopers
Silent Mobius, but only the first movie
Shuffle!
Chobits
Quintessential Quintuplets
Black Lagoon
Jin-Roh the movie, the animated one not InRang the 2019 Korean live action one
Full Metal Panic!
Is it wrong to try and pick up girls in a dungeon?
Claymore (the end was kinda mid)
Genuinely curious - why do you like it? I see this at the top anime of all time. I watched it a few years ago and i thought it was absolutely horrible. Like 2 or 3 out of 10.
I feel like the only reason i can see is "the main character is a bad guy" but that doesnt excuse trope-y terrible writing, flat characters, and mid-2000's animation that aged horribly. Am i missing something?
It was fun to watch for me.
I thought the concept was interesting. Seemed a bit derivative of The Witcher, but it was still interesting. I enjoyed most of the action scenes, and the VAs were not obnoxious in the Japanese dub.
I didn't like how repetitive it started to feel towards the end, but I'd be lying if I said I didnt like it more than most of the anime I've watched that released after 2005.
I also really liked the soundtrack.
@RightHandOfIkaros @GreyTechnician ah I liked the spin of! It had more megumin xD
thanks for using Leebra!
