Agree. The compact UI is a step backward on this build. So much stuff got added like icons and such and it's really busy. I was toggling stuff off/on in the options trying to get it back to something more basic but doesn't seem to help.

We're working on getting the classic compact back (we're rebranding it to "ultra-compact"). It was in conflict with the general post flow that our creative team settled on, but we're working very hard to bring it back--you have my guarantee on that because I built the original compact mode specifically because I wanted it and I missed Apollo's.
FWIW, I have made sure that you can get a reasonably compact experience if you toggle off "show post creator," and you can disable community avatars too if you dislike the clutter. It's not perfect and it's not a long-term solution, but it's better than nothing?
not yet, but we're working on it. believe it or not, it's more complicated than one would think! Not so much to make a simple image viewer, but to make one that doesn't suck. We want to get it right!

I’m curious about a Mac version of Mlem as well. I took a quick glance and it looks like the only issue would be some UIKit dependencies and some iOS-only styling. I might take a stab at a crappy port someday.

So good! I think it's surpassed wefwef for me now.
But: Changing the order doesn’t function. Ie going from hot to new has no effect. Anyone else have this issue.

Nvm. Seems to have been something on the instance and just coincidence I had updated. Was just getting the cache I am guessing. When the lemmy instance came back up it started working.
I love the app and all your dedicated work to it with the recent additions like messages, profile, etc. , I really appreciate that please don’t get me wrong, but the interface gets more and more unclear with every version. There is a lot of unnecessary white space added in every view.
The profile tab post view now looks the best.
It seems like there is some dedicated UI designer lacking in the team.

Thanks so much for the update! I appreciate all of your hard work in getting a great Lemmy client out the door so quickly. I have to ask, though, about the compact post layout. What's happened to it? It's no longer, well, compact! The new design adds a lot of white space and the elements seem significantly larger, which defeats the purpose, IMO. I liked the version in the previous TestFlight build much more.
