Ok… oddly I am coming to the defense of my small hometown.

Robles means Oak (Tree) in Spanish. The full name of Paso Robles is El Paso De Robles which means the The Paso of the Oaks.

Pasta Robles would be blending two languages together and would mean Oak Tree Pasta.

I think the name would make more people, from various cultures and language backgrounds, upset than just naming a pasta restaurant Oak Tree Pasta.

Also, there are already enough pasta restaurants in Paso, a quirky name like Pasta Robles wouldn’t fair well against their established competition.

BUT if a Vietnamese or Indian restaurant were to open with a fun Paso Robles themed name then I think it would do well regardless of the name. The redneck fortress looking Big Bubba’s Bad BBQ was the only place to get semi-legit BBQ in Paso for a long time despite the name and venue. I guess they have recently rebranded to Bubba’s Smokehouse & Spirits but the redneck fortress aesthetic is still on full display.

It’s not lazy to ask someone who seems to know something about the topic within a discussion thread about said topic. You know more than I do on this.

I understand how you may not want to take the time to answer someone’s question but also you could have replied with the link you eventually did instead of saying “Seriously?” Within the context of calling others lazy you could also qualify under the same term since you took the time to respond but not with the answer.

With search being what it is nowadays I wouldn’t know if I am getting a good result to find out the answer since it is of a technical and specific nature I may or may not even know if I am familiar with to begin with. It could take me much longer to figure it out, or I will give up and not be interested in finding out more about a field you seem to have an interest and knowledge about and I am demonstrating I want to know more about.

I think it is fair to ask for more information from someone who shows more expertise in the topic before searching.

From what I understand, if this technology would have been built out during his time then humanity most likely wouldn’t have developed our semi-processor/radio/computer/telephone technology because the wireless transmission of electricity would have prevented the earliest versions of that tech to work and we wouldn’t have been able to follow that line of technology progression.

Lemmy is the only platform I engage with. I closed down or abandoned all other platforms around the same time you did. My quality of life has greatly improved since, though I do still miss certain aspects sometimes.

Lots of missed opportunity in the past to act. We can’t change that now, we can only try to do better going forward.

I feel focusing the narrative on how we got into this emergency situation to cast blame on past non-action does little to affect any future change and demotivates others from trying.

Can we focus on what we are going to do instead of pointing fingers?

I know it feels good to cast blame, to get our anger out, and gives us the feeling we are doing something. It also weighs us down, directs our focus to the past when we need to be here now focused on what options are still available to us. We can analyze how we got here and what we should have done later.

Now is all we have left.

I believe if the server hosting the content has a plex pass then end users are allowed to stream from it without any additional subscription or membership. At least that is how it was several months ago when they announced this.

But you are right, even with the above being true, there will still be a non-insignificant portion of users paying to stream from servers.

My guess is because we have to develop creative problem solving skills in order to mask symptoms to avoid the stigma of ADHD or accomplish a similar level of productivity or accomplishment in work/life as those without ADHD.

Creativity and ADHD/neurodiversity has long been associated with each other but I don’t think the reason is predominately due to the brain wiring but more due to the environment in which we live. It is a coping mechanism for living in a world not built to accommodate.

Just want to say, as someone who spends time in various movie related communities here on Lemmy, I’ve seen your comments on this persons posts and wanted to let you know I appreciate you and what you are doing.

He is the only one who I was surprised and disappointed to see attending. All those others are people who’d I expect to chase money over morals and I didn’t respect as individuals already.

I don’t care about celebrity culture but I read the article and I am proud of him. Must have been tough growing up in the environment he did. He turned to drugs and made a lot of mistakes and hurt a lot of people. It sounds like he is doing the work, walking the steps and being honest with himself about who he is.

I’m proud of anyone who gets the chance to do some serious self-reflection and decides to face their own toxicity and become a better person.

I don’t know if it is a strong rumor or not, I don’t follow this stuff. I don’t know what he did or didn’t do, only he really knows all that. He’s calling himself out on his own bad behavior, being honest about it and seems to want to make amends. I’m proud of him for that, yeah.

That doesn’t mean I ok with everything he may or may not have done, it doesn’t serve me well to get angry over a rumor that has no bearing on my life and I have no control over.

I think it is ok to be proud of someone who seems to want to be a better person. It would be great if the people who I feel have wronged me would apologize and try to make amends. I think we can show support for someone deciding to make that change in their life. Whether it is a legit change and he follows through with his commitment, only time will tell; but I want to believe it is and that’s ok.
