Oh my gosh yay I found you all. I have been so sad without the DT I missed everyone :-( Where else to post my anecdotes such as the following:

Woolies massively messed up my order today. Received half of some other family’s order. I have all their dairy, including a bunch of kids stuff. They presumably are the ones with my week’s worth of dinner meats, among other things. I am now the owner of 6L of milk, 3 tubs of spreadable butter, a ton of kids yoghurt pouches, and much more. I am going to have to see if any of the mums at play group want any of it.

Woolies had been suspiciously good with my orders there for a while, absolutely zero issues the past several orders. I feel like I’m being punished for finally trusting them lol! Waiting to hear about a refund…

After crying basically every day for the last week I realised I’m not coping and that my partner has been letting me down, I have finally asked for more help. Looking after a baby basically by yourself 24 hours a day and being sleep deprived is hard.

I was trying to be the perfect mum, partner, housewife… I had this idea that if I did all the chores and cooking etc, partner would have more time to take baby when he’s home. Guess what he did instead? Play Zelda all day. Lol.

Well I’ve asked him to step it up. We have a sleep consultant coming to help with baby’s sleep. I’m going to hold MIL to her promise to come help out more. I’m considering trying to get baby into daycare earlier than we thought for a day a week so I can reclaim some sanity… we shall see.

Update to the spontaneous country day trip (if you don’t know: partner told me we’re going to the country today and the location is a surprise). He took us to two spots.

The first was a coffee pit stop at the Dromkeen Gallery in Riddells Creek. Everyone was so friendly and they let us drink our coffee in the prime spot: in front of the open fire. Very cosy, especially as it gets extra nippy out that way. The baby enjoyed the never-ending piles of picture books and we bought one about Migaloo the white whale to take home.

Then we forged onward. I still didn’t know where we were going. I have to admit I was starting to feel a bit uncertain when we turned down some bumpy dirt roads and the baby started to get upset. But it soon all became clear: we were headed to the Mount Macedon Winery for lunch! My oh my it was absolute heaven. Completely delicious. And the ambiance was so relaxed that the baby just chilled and people-watched while partner and I got in some quality time together.

All in all a very nice day!

Last night I went on my Twitter for the first time in ages only to find my account had switched from private to public without me knowing. I am furious. I post pics of my child on there and have also talked about my abuser on there. Not to mention everything I share is in the context of it being PRIVATE to my handful of online friends who use it. I am deleting the account today but I have no idea how long it was just sitting there open and who may have seen what.

We’ve just had the baby sleep consultant come by. I didn’t have high hopes, in my mind it was just a starting point as it’s the free council service and the advice we got from our maternal child health nurse did not work for us at all.

But I have been pleasantly surprised! She was really nice and the approach she has suggested sounds a lot more suitable for us. It’s going to be a hard 3+ week journey to change baby’s sleep habits. Really hoping at the end of it we will see some better sleep!! I am so tired!!

Managed to book in a freelance client project and feeling rather proud of myself. I used to work solely freelance but got a “proper job” at the tail end of lockdowns when work dried up. I was in a really unhealthy mental space with my freelance work and addicted to social media (what I mainly used to gain clients) so I’ve been wary of returning to it, even though I really dislike my “proper” job. I’m currently on mat leave and feel sick at the idea of returning.

I got this client through social connections in the Real World and it was just so easy and stress free. I’ve been thinking a lot about where I went wrong in the past and I have a glimmer of hope I really could make it work again this time. Honestly I am really good at what I do, I just need to focus on the work and get out there meeting people in real life a lot more.

I feel optimistic about work and my professional future for the first time in a long time!!!

Hard day. Baby hasn’t been well. I keep getting irrationally angry at my partner too because I’m freaked out and projecting. I have managed to not actually say anything and just keep my emotions to myself but I’m exhausted from managing myself too. Baby will be okay but it’s hard when he’s screaming in pain 😭

Upon waking partner instructed me to “get ready for a country trip today, you can’t say no and the destination is a surprise” so I guess we are going on a day trip 🤠

Need a new handbag and thought with this whole turning 30 and upgrading my wardrobe thing, I’d try to seek out my first Nice handbag. Went in person to look at some of my shortlisted options yesterday and felt very meh about them. If I’m spending that much I want a soul connection! 💘 Back to the drawing board…

So baby sleep can go wonky when they are developing new skills. My baby has been a bit off for a few days so I was like, awesome, maybe he’ll be crawling soon!

The new skill he’s actually developed? Biting! 🙃 And he thinks it’s really funny too. Especially when I say NO!

Lol accidentally posted this in the wrong daily thread, my phone loaded yesterdays.

We are going to a party tonight. First night out without baby… I’m so nervous as he doesn’t do super well at night when he’s tired. Don’t know if MIL understands what she’s signed up for. Reaaaally hoping he does okay and I don’t have to leave early 🙏🏻

Sorry if there’s a designated area to talk Taylor but I’m struggling to scroll down here at the mo. But we had no luck getting tickets. 6 hours and 3 devices on different internet connections only to get hit with SOLD OUT. Luckily am not a mega fan just thought it’d be fun if we could get tickets. (EDIT: I mean I am somewhat of a fan obvi just not a diehard)

Father in law recently gave us his Beatles memorabilia from when they had their similarly massive concert here, which we’re having framed up so I thought it’d be cool to tell the grandkids we went one day haha. Oh well!

Well, we got through the first night of the new sleep plan for baby. He was NOT happy with the new arrangements. But this was to be expected. Just have to keep going.

Also partner is home on holidays at the moment and the division of responsibilities has been a lot better. I actually got time to write yesterday! I wrote a lot! My brain is coming back online!

I’m in such a better mood and feel less depressed just thanks to having that little bit of time to make serious progress on a project. It’s scary how easy it is to lose yourself simply because there is no time and/or energy to BE yourself…

I’ve realised a random thing about myself: I hate when people make “observations” about me and tell me. People do it a lot about my style. I guess I like to look nice, but have a fairly simple style and a clear colour palette because I don’t like to buy lots of clothes, so people often say things like, “You really like to wear X colours don’t you?”

It’s the kind of comment that isn’t a compliment so maybe I’m just defensive but it feels like a judgement or I’m being asked to explain myself and it sets me on edge. I don’t know how to respond either.

They are probably just trying to bond and show they’ve noticed but my whole life I’ve attracted unwanted attention and commentary on my appearance so it’s annoying to me. Do other people have their appearance and clothes commented on a lot? Is that just something people do? It never occurs to me to say such a thing to someone else unless I’m giving a compliment or being like, “Ooh is that a new jacket?”

People have been dumping all their fast food garbage in the street around our house and our neighbours and it honestly has me raging. It’s always been a problem but is getting worse lately, they clearly just let it pile up in their car and then dump it all out?! Considering becoming the local Karen and posting passive aggressive signs around the place.

Banana bread is in the oven yay. Baby woke up an hour earlier than usual this morning so I’ve already had 2 coffees, done a load of laundry, read some of my new book, and of course the banana bread. I have either been feeling a bit depressed or am suffering from horrendous PMS post partum but I thought today I should try to keep busy rather than scrolling my phone all day.

For the rest of the day I’m hoping to work a bit more on an essay I’ve been writing for my newsletter and hopefully squeeze in an exercise routine. We shall see!
