Official yiffit.net Goodbye thread: so long and thanks for all the yiff!

2 years ago by Wander to c/meta

It's time. A bit later than planned but I thought no one would mind a few extra weeks.

This is the official yiffit goodbye thread for anyone who wants to immortalize their message in the final version of yiffit that will be archived. Both this post and the closure announcement post will be pinned on the frontpage of the archived version.

This post will stay up for approximately a week before all users are logged out and credentials revoked, which will be the first step of the archival process.

I'll edit this post with a personal message later, but for now let me just say: thank you everyone who's been here. So long and thanks for all the yiff!

Edit: just disabled federation. Will soon log everyone out.

Bye everyone! Looks like this instance was too powerful to exist.

Thank you for the extra time, Wander!

I'm out of the loop, the furry instance is shutting down?

You still have pawb.social for more furry stuff. Some of the NSFW stuff transferred there when yiffit announced the shutdown.

As with the initial announcement, a tear was shed. yiffit came at the right time and the right place for me to start to express myself. I appreciate what you did and will miss it. I'll be over in pawb, but its not quite the same. Thank you, and thank everyone that stuck around.

Here comes the end of this instance. Thank you for hosting it, it opened for me a whole new world, which is the fediverse. I do not regret the time I spent here and I'm glad I took part in such a warm and welcoming community. I appreciate the effort you put into it and it's sad to see it go away. Farewell yiffit.

Bye everyone, it's been nice while it's lasted.

And thankyou wander for hosting this instance for this long!

Thanks Wander for hosting, and thanks to everyone that contributed! I've found some great artists and met some cool people on here :3 Hope to see you around on Pawb.social

Damn.

I am not a furry (as I suspiciously said here 8 months ago first and I am here again), but I've been checking on this place and lurking around. Just occasionally opening yiffit.net and browsing around the SFW stuff. Similar with pawb.social. Seems like I came back just in time.
Really, my only "interaction" was helping with the yeen on fediverse canvas a bit. Though I was mostly working on my large boykisser in top right, an effect exposure to 196 had on me :3

Hmm, I even recognize a few people from here. l_b_i, Kolanaki and Jimbo.

But it is pretty sad to see it go. I don't have much to type here, but I went on it properly. I switched from my phone to ThinkPad (running Arch, btw) and I am listening to Nearer My God To Thee (instrumental - the one from Titanic movie). Sort of a weird ceremony xD

Gentlemen, it has been a privilege federating with you.

Farewell.

So long Yiffit, and to everyone here I've talked to you've all been great and a pleasure to interact with. I fucking love weird little corners of the internet, and I'm sad to see this one go. Thank you everyone, keep being weird, keep being yourselves.

I'll be around under this name on Pawb.social, Packmates.org, and wobbl.xyz. Cheers.

I never understood what was so difficult about the hosting, if it's not the hosting costs tbh. Is it because of the NSFW nature of the instance?

Anyway, leaving comment for the immortalization.

My guess would be, trolls, illegal content, DMCA

I left my goodbye message in the other thread on the 31st, but I'll once again say thanks for being a part of all this. It's been a pleasure, take care.

I wish you guys would still be around. I hope we get some more activity over at pawb, but this is too great a cost to pay. Thank you for keeping it running as long as you did.
