The joke is always on the old.
You shut your whore mouth!
My point of view is maybe a bit strange: I was 22 years old when the film came out. Of those 22 years, I was a little Batman fan for at least 17 years. I loved the whole saga, the series, the movies, and Batman was a huge hero to me.
This film degraded my hero in my eyes. He wasn't nearly as cool as the Joker. In every scene you rightly waited for Ledger to come and say a cool line. This film revolved around the terrific performance of Heath Ledger. Unfortunately, as an old Batman fan, it wasn't mine.
Hey but at least you got Patrick Bateman as Batman
I still remember all the online chatter about Heath Ledger getting cast as the Joker. The guy from Brokeback Mountain and A Knight's Tale?
Then he gives us the most iconic live action Joker potrayal which hasn't really been been surpassed in 15 years.
Just like the fucking dude that made The Hangover making Joker(2019)
Idk, I think Joaquin Phoenix played a better joker. That might be a hot take, but I stand by it.

15 years ago, I was... in my 30s.
So I wasn't all that young then either.
The Batman is damn close, though. I had low expectations going into it, but it's about tied with Dark Knight in my opinion.
Yeah, thanks for that...
I wasnt young when it came out. Joke's on you.
If good movies can still be good after any period of time I can be young at any age.
That’s fine: I wasn’t young back then either 😛
cruel realization OR blissful one
depends on how you look at it
Ah yes. It's all been downhill ever since.
Though there was a brief bright spot when The Dark Knight Rises came out a few years after that and we got Baneposting for a while.
Fuckkkkkkk....
That was like 7 Star Wars films ago.
Why so old?...
2008 was basically yesterday, this doesn't make me feel old.
A few days back I was listening to They Might Be Giants and the first track off of Flood came on which contains the line "Its a brand new record for 1990." I remember when I considered Flood to be "their new stuff." That makes me feel old.
Man...this movie didn't age well did it? The fuck was Bale doing with that sore throat voice? And why was the Batsuit so clunky? Isn't Batman supposed to be agile and master in hand to hand combat.
I haven't seen it since theaters but I hated his voice then, found it somewhere between creepy and ridiculous. I remember a scene in an interrogation room where his monologue seemed like it would never end
If you are boiling it down to the absolute basics, I guess you can try to say that. But at that point, damn near any movie where the main character is trying to stop a criminal of some sort is a "cop drama".
Die Hard is a cop drama.
Every James Bond is just a cop drama.
Even 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' is a cop drama.
Like yea, you can make that stretch, but you're using such broad strokes that "cop drama" is meaningless.
thanks for using Leebra!
go to feed...
Jokes on you, I wasn't young then, either. Hahaha, oh wait...
