what's a good answer to placate the c-suite if you're accused of lacking motivation and being unfriendly?

my only motivation to be there is to earn money and my 401k. So many of my coworkers and management feel offended by this statement.

I'm union. Union lawyer thinks this is a management strategy to try to manipulate me.

Cue BS answer for any c-suite that tries making me feel insecure over this:

well, I'm a terrible liar, that's why I'm asking you :D

the unfriendly party might be easy: I'm always friendly and direct because I want to work. maybe that?

Don't answer the question, ask them for specific examples on why they think you are being unmotovated or unfriendly, don't be aggressive, just pretend you simply don't understand. They'll tell you some bullshit and you can tell it's a misunderstanding. Keep a polite and friendly tone.

It's like the Krabby O'Mondays episode of Spongebob.

They essentially want you to be happy about your exploitation, or pretend to be happy.

Negativity is bad for business and if enough workers start seeing/saying the truth, they might fight back against their abusers.

It's a major reason why I'd sooner go postal than work with the average chucklefucks in the West.

Ask for specific examples of where you failed to deliver work as per your contract.

So you can likely earn in another role. The key is to make them believe that you chose to be here, rather than anywhere else. And that may involve lying because management don't want to hear it's because of your short commute and relatively easy workload. But, maybe you are there because you think that they are doing good work in whatever field? Maybe they do offer you great experience for your career. Maybe you do have a great team?

And maybe you don't. In which case it is platitudes time, tell them what they want to hear and volunteer for things more. But also, maybe time to get that CV brushed up too?

Its so rediculous that they try and pretend people don't work for a paycheck. You do one thing over another for reasons outside a paycheck but when your working somewhere its for the check.

Tell them you're autistic and you find the accusations offensive
