Hantavirus in humans can be really bad. Possibly death. There is a specific type of the virus that can spread from rodent to human and it’s rare. The risk for becoming an epidemic or pandemic is very low at this time.

The cruise ship strain was, unfortunately, that very strain that has human-to-human transmission.
Roughly 40% mortality for this one, the Andes virus.

Not all strains of it spread person to person, rather through rodent urine, saliva, and droppings. However the cruise ship strain is transmissible person to person, but needs much closer contact than covid does.
