and you can use it without ever touching the terminal .

it has many sources to troubleshoot online and even ai is better at windows than linux (bec linux always changes) and you generally dont need to troubleshoot stuff just works.

Well, it's certainly an uniformed opinion. Linux is just different from windows. It has a different ethos and goal and it excels at that. Conversely, Windows is terrible at the things Linux is good at.

Only if you grew up using Windows. People who came up on Macs have a hard time adjusting to Windows but generally find Linux (especially with GNOME) easier. This point is purely relative to one's previous experiences.

No driver is perfect. NVIDIA drivers on both Windows and Linux can be buggy. Not every application on either platform works perfectly on NVIDIA drivers. With that said, NVIDIA drivers have come a long way on Linux especially lately since Linux is the desired platform for "AI" companies to run their models.

They aren't used that often by regular users, but install certain software and watch as the installer opens several terminal windows to run commands in the background.

Your effort is appreciated. Just to add in a few things from my experience - in dabbling with LLMs I needed to use WSL in Windows (wonder what OS that is). I found it too slow because it's a virtual machine, so that was the final push towards putting Linux on and just running things direct. Not my first time with Linux, but this time ti stuck because Linux is that good now for new users. A few months ago I finally reclaimed the space Windows had been using, as I don't need it anymore. Another point in this journey, my Nvidia gpu worked the first boot up, no issues at all. In fact I can't say I've had any hardware issues with any computers that I've put Linux on. Windows, on the other hand... well, there was a time when Windows would work on just about anything, but the days of sticking in a 98SE CD to pull a driver that works is long gone.

Ha, thanks! Yeah I didn't really want to deep dive into some of those points given the obvious attempt at trolling by the OP.

I feel you on the "Linux has better Windows backward compatibility than Windows itself". I have a few music instrument related devices that Windows dropped support for after Win7, but Linux just works fine with them as if they were released this year. Same with printers; on most Linux distros thanks to CUPS driverless printing, the printer is automatically configured before you ever launch the settings app. On Windows sometimes it works but more often it just pretends to work and you have to track down the actual printer driver and application bundle from the manufacturer's website. And especially with HP printers, make sure you get (for example) driver 123x and not 123y, they are completely different and the wrong one might soft-brick your printer.

Yeah dunno, some of those bigger half-year updates broke it. And there's never any helpful error messages. Already solved it, though. I just don't print from Windows anymore 😆 It's like the second time this happened and the printer before also stopped being supported in modern Windows, and honestly I can't be bothered to poke at thinks for 2h again. A computer should just work and keep working, and not mess with the printer drivers every year, mess with the boot order and all that stuff I have to fix on a regular basis.

This is only true if you're speaking of UNIX and UNIX-like OSes in general. Linux itself didn't exist until 1991; it was inspired by Minix, a UNIX-like OS made for research purposes. Windows has been with us since the 80s, though "modern" Windows didn't arrive until Windows NT in the 90s.

I've been off Microslop for over a year. I've barely logged in, mostly to do updates. But I understand Windows better now than I did when I left. That's because Windows will teach you how to use Windows, while Linux will teach you how to use computers.

That comment about the terminal is funny, because powershell is one of the best things about Windows 10/11. And a real Windows user would know that.
