The Steam Frame Will Have An Enthusiast Kit With A Hot-Swappable Battery
3 days ago by Fubarberry to c/steamdeck
"Hot-swappable" is above and beyond replaceable. To me hot-swappable sounds like you'll be able to swap the battery pack without turning off the device, which seems like it would require the device to have another power source to cover the changeover.
That is indeed the very definition of the term, yes.
i've had headsets with it. Just takes a very small battery with some seconds of life.
Eh, rumors are the battery life will be low for the Frame. So, this addresses that.
Weight distribution is more important - many put a battery pack on the back headrest to offset the weight of the main body. Makes it a lot more comfortable for longer sessions or fast movement.
Considering the Steam Deck has an easily replaceable battery this might just be an increased design complexity for hot swapping = more cost, so they made it "enthusiast" tier to have separate pricing.
It's a great feature either way though, I'd use it for sure.
Finally, sword art online.
Its so everyone that was excited to have one doesnt suffer through life long depression once they announce the price due to all this AI hardware supply issues.
If you die. You become a small child in India Youth in Asia
It's reverse Isekai
Neat!
"steamdeckhq.com"??? This is like that "insideEVs" site that does nothing but write about Elon Musk all day even if it's nothing to do with EVs
Do you really think a website that was created to cover the steam deck, shouldn't also cover steam machine/controller/frame? It's already pretty niche, and I think most people interested in the Deck will also be interested in other steam hardware.
Sorry if it wasn't clear enough, I am talking about having a cult over a multi billion dollar company
Steam have an impressive reputation of not trying to just bend their customers over and screw them over raw. Them remembering not only lube, but to wine and dine us first also helps.
You still get screwed (for your money) but it's a far more pleasant experience.
The steam deck comm on lemmy does also cover the controller, the machine and the frame
Don't care, want proper blacks.
OLED burn-in may not be so much of a concern anymore. Ars has multiple articles on the topic.
Hasn't been much of a concern for years.

I wonder if this has something to do with the EU mandating most consumer electronics to have replaceable batteries from next year onwards.
