I also rewatched it recently and her acting is great. In the words of my friend: “She was just put there just to be boobs and I wanted to hate her for it, but her Seven character arc was so good that I couldn’t and I love her for that.”
Absolutely - I couldn’t put it better myself. She was cast as wall dressing and ended up hitting a grand slam.
Watch Boston Public, she was good in that.

Side note:
I somewhat recently rewatched Voyager, and came away more impressed with Jeri Ryan’s acting chops - even in the face of Braga’s misogynistic catsuit fetish. And honestly, as much as I am… disappointed by all but the last Picard season, her character arc from Voyager through all of that is actually super cool.
TL;DR imo Ryan’s got some serious acting chops and I like the directions in which she’s taken Seven’s character
