egg🤨irl (more in body)

The worst part about eggy parents is it feels even more difficult to do anything about it.

I'm not trans, just scrolling past. But when I came out as gay to my mother she sobbed, then in an attempt to explain it away and convince me I'm not she said "everyone looks at people of the same gender, that's normal. I do that all the time!". Then later mentioned hating sex with my dad.

In the moment I was like "wtf" but looking back.... Girl.

"There weren't so many gay people back in my time; moral decay! Being gay is a choice! I love cock but married a woman I hate anyways and you should do the same" —paraphrased but way more common than you'd think

over the months i've become convinced that the panic about gay people was actually a panic about a falling birth rate all along ...

Maybe but the birthrate shit almost always comes back to eugenics and racism

almost always but not always. sometimes it's also just to have more fresh meat to churn through the meatgrinder i meant workplaces.

I think it's more a panic of admitting consciously that they wasted their lives living a lie.

And even more difficult to do anything about it 30 years later. How do you cope with the thoughts, "what if (the had been affirming and supportive)?"

If they want to transition the opposite direction, sometimes they say affirming things while probably trying to be insulting because they're convinced no one of their gender wants to be that way. Otoh, it makes it harder for them to understand why you'd want to transition and trying to convince someone who is 60+ and says they want to transition that they should just do it is hard...

Yeah I finally started the physical part in my mid-40s, now almost 50 and finally getting a few surgeries the next few years. But I'm in a huge rush since the system's gate keeping and provider shortages takes so long to get through.

By 60s, you've basically past the point where you could get through wait lists and still be able to heal well from surgeries, so it really limits what you can do. And with all of the safety issues if you're not able to get FFS, vocal feminization, and other appearance altering procedures so you can pass, you're likely to just get beaten and raped, thrown in jail with people of the opposite gender to get beaten and raped, or just outright murdered. So I get their perspective. But they shouldn't keep younger people from it just because they didn't have the opportunity.

In this case the older person is my mom and she has done well passing as a guy lost her life without any surgeries or hormones and acknowledging that she's not cis.

Must be tough to have an egg parent tbh, in the sense that they're probably so deep into Narnia that they don't know there's a world where they can leave the wardrobe

My grandfather after fighting in a few wars didn't believe in PTSD. Called my Uncle's PTSD bullshit. He said you have a couple of bad dreams then you get over it.

Feels like a similar concept

Denial is a pretty powerful quirk the brain does.
Break out of that glitch is often very difficult, and requires intervention. If only we had parents that could listen.

trans women can still make children if you find a compatible partner (and are willing to make some medical precautions)

!egg_irl

!egg_irl is for widely relatable memes about questioning one's gender or being an egg (a trans person in denial) as well as other eggy topics.

If you are looking for a place to discuss something specific to you or especially if you need help or are in crisis, we have communities and resources that can support you linked at the bottom of this sidebar.

General Rules:

  1. No bigotry.

  2. No spam, bots, or vote farming.

Rules on Content:

  2. No personal-life posts, bingo cards, quizzes, selfies, "trans/not trans" lists, picrew, or non-memes.

  3. No visible names or usernames.

  4. Do not post or link to pornography.

Rules on Post Titles and Tags:

  1. Posts must be titled "egg_irl". An emoji or two is OK, but they have to be between "egg" and "irl".

  2. Posts that assume the viewer's gender and/or contain potentially triggering content must be spoilered and tagged at the beginning of the post title. Example content-warning tags that you can copy include the following:

    • [CW: Assumes Viewer is Transmasc]
    • [CW: Assumes Viewer is Transfem]
    • [CW: Assumes Viewer is Nonbinary]
    • [CW: Transphobia]
    • [CW: Violence]

Rules on Post Text:

  1. If possible, include an image description for accessibility.

  2. Add sources for art.

Rules on Comments

  1. If a post is tagged with a specific gender identity, keep the conversation centered on that identity.

  2. You must follow the Egg Prime Directive. You may not push or coerce people into identifying or not identifying a certain way. You must respect them as the gender they claim to identify as. In addition it is extremely in poor taste to make assumptions about other people's identities based on external factors, we understand it cannot be helped but it is best not to as it can affect the way you treat others in noticeable ways. Read more about this decision here.

  3. No Ewwphoria posts. Posts which contain misogyny, misandry, transmisogyny, transmisandry, or enbyphobia for the purpose of expressing euphoria are not allowed here. At best they bring anger to others, and at worst they may trigger people's dysphoria. People who create such posts will have them removed and may be banned at moderator discretion.

Recommendations:

We strongly encourage you to include your pronouns in your account bio so that others know how to refer to you without misgendering you. If you're questioning or unsure of your pronouns, that's totally cool—just say so.
