I'm a regular at home, relationship is so-so with the cook (my wife) but we get along, flirt, and hook up occasionally too so that's nice!

The people at the grocery store all know me pretty well. Ask about my kids and family.

I pick on them and talk shit to the new people when they ring me up.

Its a good time (at least for me) I hope no one feels held hostage

I genuinely like bullshitting with my customers and enjoy banter in my business

I have been a regular at three dry cleaners and a couple of grocery store. The grocery stores goes through staff changes regularly so I don’t have any relationships with the staff.

At the first dry cleaner the owner was a Korean man named Peter, we would have long conversations whenever I dropped off cloths. I have used dry cleaning weekly since I was in the Army. I list Peter as one of my closest friends. We would talk about everything. I learned a lot about what his life in Korea was like, I got to be freinds with his wife and kids. Let me tell, if he is any representation, Koreas have very high standards for their children.

I then moved and had to get a new cleaner.

At the second one the owner was kind of a bitch so I bounded a bit with the staff but they also cycled out and the service went down hill so I changed to a new one.

At the third one was owned by a Greek Women and she had two long time staff all women and all three were in their 60s. They were all awesome and again I learned a lot about growing up in Greece. I live outside of Baltimore Maryland and there is a huge Greek Community in Baltimore. It is kind of surprising how big it is. Anyway I adore all three of those women and again the four of us babble constantly when I drop off clothes. It is the norm for us to talk for at least an hour. I wouldn’t drop off/pick up close to closing time because I don’t want to keep them.

Alas work has moved me. So I now have a new dry cleaner and again I building a relationship with that owner.

Fair lol. I certainly don't see them as friends, just people that take my order and might sometimes remember my name. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As someone who was a server and in customer service for 10+ years, there's definitely people that can become friends. There are also people who are purely customers whose name I remember and who I think of fondly at times. Those relationships can make a big difference in people's lives sometimes, even if for others (like in this comment section), service people are barely human...

Me and my partner think that they are somewhat scared because my partner works at the HQ of the bakery, eventhough my partner is only a System-Admin, but they dont know that. They only know that they are working at the HQ and assume he is very much a leading figure. I mean my partner kind of is and is in constant contact with the company owners, but he couldnt be a threat to their employment even if they tried hihi. They are such a cutie sweetie gentlemen.

The workers still are very friendly though :)
