I finished a second watch of Scavenger's Reign.
I'm in the middle of Spider-Noir. I like Nic Cage in the role, of course, but the show should have accepted Nic is 62 and developed around that, instead of trying to make him younger. I think we're all tired of flying aircraft carriers, futuristic computers, and interdimensional travel battles. It's nice to get back to more human-centered stories.
Started The Gentlemen last night. I was expecting another Succession, and happily surprised it's not that. It's full of tropes, but still fun.
We love spooky season! Started last weekend and so far we've watched practical magic, la llorona, backrooms, quiet place day 1, started liseys story, started the lizzie Borden show, and finished the first season of dark matter.
Watched Widow’s Bay this week, it was, fine. It was entertaining enough, I did want to see what happened but I didn’t really care about any of the characters. Not quite sure why critics liked it so much, it was a 6/10. It does have a Hocus Pocus vibe to it, which has a serious fan base that I’m assuming this show is aimed at.
Showed my partner Talk to Me. Great spooky movie with classic made modern ghost story vibes
The Tick (the live action reboot by Amazon) is on Netflix. We just finished the first season. It's so good. I'd forgotten what a fantastic writer Ben Edlund is. For these characters, anyway; I don't actually know what else he's done outside this property.
Just little things like Firefly, Supernatural, Gotham.
The Amazon version is my least favorite. I should rewatch it though. First viewing was probably hampered a lot by "This isn't Warburton."
No kidding? Well, I know he didn't create Firefly, that was Joss Whedon. I know I said Edlund was a great writer (and he is), but I feel it's a little different for The Tick since the characters are his creations; he definitively knows how to write them.
As for Warburton, it took me a while to get used to him in that first remake because I was skeptical that a live-action version could be good. It did suck me in, however, right before it was cancelled (because of course it was 😞). I was surprised to see Patrick Warburton in the credits of the last episode we watched. It seems he was still involved in the second remake, but as a producer.
Honestly, I didn't realize he was involved with any of them either until earlier this year when I did a Firefly rewatch and noticed his name in the credits.
I spent 12 hours in the air this week, so I got through Super Mario Galaxy, Mortal Kombat 2, Mandolorian & Grogu, and Anaconda (2025). Though I might have slept through the entire 2nd half of Mario. They were all fine for in-flight entertainment.
My nights in the hotel were spent on The I.T. Crowd once I found it on Tubi. I never get tired of that show.

I watched the latest season of horror series From. Surprisingly good and mysterious for a show I hardly see mentioned online. It lost some of the creepiness and consistency towards the end, but I’m still interested in watching the next and final season when it comes out.
