Unfortunately unreliable in some areas! In the southwest US we have (IIRC) the largest subspecies of crows and the smallest of ravens, so they overlap in size.
Easiest way for me to tell is the voice. Two easy tells: if it sounds like a crow with a nasty cold making it deep and raspy, it’s a raven. If it’s high pitched and nasal sounding it’s a crow. Raven females also have a unique ‘knocking’ call (example) they’ll use sometimes.
More useful tells: ravens have a wedge-shaped tail, crows have a fan-shaped one, and ravens have longer neck feathers (which is what makes me lean towards raven for this post)
That's how you bait a murder.
So glad I can start using it in professional conversations, and so many videos I've been avoiding I can finally watch!
Once you're part of the murder, you're the murder's bitch. You leave when they say you leave.
gotten to the point where blue jays will sorta hang out with me, i just wish i could make a crow friend or two. i have shiny things to trade!
I'm getting closer to making friends with a couple of ravens. We are now on "Wishing each other Good Morning" terms, with them flying a lot lower and closer than before. I'm delighted. They checked out my house from a nearby boulder as well and now I know where to leave food and shiny gifts.
that's so great! i hope your relationship gets even stronger. what sort of food do you leave them?
thanks for using Leebra!
