Physicians’ group calls for ban on raw milk – as it’s becoming increasingly popular in the US

As raw milk industry experiences record growth, experts say it might contain pathogens that can sicken people

As raw milk becomes increasingly popular among Americans, there have been several recent disease outbreaks tied to the product, alarming public health officials.

Last week, the American Academy of Pediatrics called for a ban on sales of unpasteurized milk in the United States.

More people have started drinking raw milk, doctors say, because of influencers who have touted its health benefits; Robert F Kennedy Jr, the US health secretary, who until recently promoted it; and a lack of trust in government regulators.

But there is no evidence for claims that it reduces lactose issues and can cure allergies and boost immunity, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and public health groups argue. And whereas raw milk producers say that pasteurization eliminates flavor and health benefits, public health officials say it keeps people safe.

its kinda funny to because they have this thing in their head that people drank milk all the time in the olden days but they did not have pastuerization or refrigeration so the large majority was turned into butter and cheese and such.

But also people did get sick and died from it back then, they just didn't know that was the cause.

And boiling the milk, lots of the world have farmers that still get fresh milk, they boil it before drinking it or using it for anything. I don't know anyone except some stupid kids that like to suck on the udders drink raw milk.

The reason that raw milk was replace with pasteurized in the first place was kids died. Lots of kids died.

Pathogens levels that will give the fucking moronic adult a case of the shits will kill a 18 month year old.

You can just say you don't know what a Darwin Award is.

What The_v means is that there won't really be any Darwin Awards, because it will be kids who are dying, not the stupid adults who force them to drink the stuff.

If their progeny dies, so does their bloodline, hence Darwin Award.

Sarcasm aside, since it flew way over your head, I do feel bad that these kids grow up with such shit parents, but there's not really much any of us can do. There going to keep believing anti-vaccine and other nonsense. We take away their unpasteurized milk they'll come up with some new deathly idiotic fixation.

Also, nobody should be consuming dairy from other animals. We are not baby cows, baby goats, etc. They aren't even that genetically similar to us, it's fucking weird and gross.

You can forbid it all you want, there will still be loads of idiots who will sell it under the tabs for profit, those who will buy it under the table for a lot of money because they are deluded that it's "better", and for the latter reason, kids will still be poisoned by their "natural crazy" parents.

You guys say this, but you know how much salmonella a pre-cut store-bought salad has?

And whereas raw milk producers say that pasteurization eliminates flavor and health benefits, public health officials say it keeps people safe.

The alternative would be raising animal-health and hygiene standards to aceptable levels.

I mean, if you go to that length, you can just drink oat milk instead.
