The eye has a hidden cleanup system scientists never knew existed

What always confused me about that is that I could look at my own eyes over years and see that SOMETHING was acting as a lymphatic drain — so I always took that as a “we don’t care enough to figure it out.”
Wtf?
I've read a lot about the eyes recently (medical issues) and it struck me as odd that the eyes are described as having a largely separate immune system.
Like how??
I have this when I'm not feeling mentally well. The visual noise is actually a sign for me that I should be extra careful to be nice to others because it's not them who are more annoying today, it's me.
If you’ve got excess floaters you should have your eyes checked. It can be an indication of something else going wrong.
This. I have bilateral PVD's. My retina guy said all the gunk would eventually dissolve.
It’s been almost fifteen years. It has not dissolved.
POV, you’re degaussing your eyes:

When I was in medical school they taught us that the eye was basically an organ entirely closed off to the rest of the body. And that always confused the heck out of me, like, how? How does that happen? But it turns out my confusion was really just my bullshit meter going off. I'm glad to know about this new lymphatic drainage system, it makes so much more sense.
