The hot algorithm was actually broken, but lemmy 0.18.0 came out today and instances are starting to update - once your instance updates, install jerboa 0.35 n you’ll notice the difference
@lemmy.ca
Instance == server == each individual lemmy (Beehaw is its own instance, so is lemmy.ca, etc)
Basically, reddit was a bunch of communities on one server (the reddit servers)
Each lemmy instance has its own collection of communities, and each lemmy is connected together, so users from any individual lemmy can read and interact with communities and users from other lemmys (this is federation)
All of these lemmy instances federating makes up the greater lemmy network as a whole
what I take from this, though, is that even with the anger against Reddit, there’s no talk of leaving in the comments on that post!
you hate the site and all of their changes so much and it’s only been getting worse… why do you stay? even the content is already worse, and even worse on the subs that have the new Reddit tipping system… why stay?

Edit: holy fuck no one told me it was a blockchain cryptoshit??? That's even funnier 💀
to answer the opposite of your question i would say it’s unethical to steal things from indie developers and creators; the same way its more wrong to steal from a local corner store than it is to steal from Walmart
something something, if 9 people are fine sitting at a table with a Nazi, you have 10 nazis
cut the trash out before it stinks up the whole network
this isn’t Reddit we don’t need bad faith both sides bs
Relay for android gave in to Reddit's demands ... thoughts?
I think this is a bad sign for everyone protesting the changes... a major app giving in makes the rest of the apps look bad for complaining imo https://www.androidpolice.com/...
