Unfortunately all we have around here are these imported japanese ladybugs that have no local predators. So in the spring and fall we have to fend off their invasion at a rate of ~50 caught a day around the house.

Tbpedantic, it's also a technical term to describe certain species of insects that are not beetles, such as jewel bugs. We often say they are "true bugs" to show we're not being general about it.
