Lol I've had both these views in hotels before.

That's pretty bad, but if you think it's the "worst possible", you lack imagination.

Once I stayed at an airbnb in Vienna. Across the Street was a small Hofer (Austria's Aldi). All innocent enough, until the first night. Apparently this street was the local hooker pickup so lots of sparsely dressed ladies appeared each evening and there was lots of come-and-go (haha) traffic. And every morning at 4am sharp a huge truck arrived to restock the Hofer. In the narrow street it had to do a 50 point turn, complete with loud reverse beeping.

We lived across the parking lot from a LIDL (ALDI competitor), and they also got deliveries from 4AM onwards.

I think it's hilarious. I'd laugh if i got into this room without knowing about its "view" beforehand. Ventilation might be an issue though

I stayed in some seriously shitty 'hotels' when backpacking through South-East Asia in my twenties. They were objectively terrible, but I recall them as some of the best times of my life. Never underestimate the value of a good anecdote.

Still better than rooms that have windows facing the hotel corridor so all the guests can see you in your room.

I've had that happen a surprising number of times.

They remake old offices into cheap hotels. They end up with this shit.

About as good as that hostel in London. 3.5 by 3.5 meters for four people, including the bath with shower and sink, and a window to a roof, not much larger than the room, surrounded by buildings going up lots of levels.

But it was clean and cheap.

Yeah, when I was younger places like this were my jam. I wasn't there to hang out in a hotel room, and so the less accommodating the better. Clean was important, but that's about it. Make it small, make it have no view, no TV, etc.

I am no longer young.

Last hotel I stayed in there wasn't even a view. The window just looked onto another corridor, and had some paper over it.

I've seen worse. I've been to a hotel where corridors were shaped like lowercase m letter, with central leg being the entrance and side legs having rooms on both sides, so the windows of inner ones were facing each other through public lobby 🫣 Needless to say, none of the curtains were ever open, so they were effectively windowless

Here's the real question. Why are they touching the beds without checking them for bugs first?! Seeing the horrors one time was enough to never, ever touch soft surfaces in a hotel until they're all thoroughly checked.

Tell us the horrors then, i had ants in a dirty Italian hostel once, but no bugs in a clean place like this

Be better without. Every time a car goes through your room is getting lit tf up by the headlights.

Why are the headlights on in a lit garage?

Because they're on as long as you operate the vehicle.

Oh maybe you make the distinction between headlights and foglights or whatever, headlights to me just mean standard lights on a car.

My car isn't like that. You have to manually turn on the headlights, which you only do in the dark or in the rain.

There is a dim "running lights" setting that you can select in a parking garage, but it doesn't cast a beam, it just illuminates some yellow lights near the main headlights.

But to your point, some people in the garage would probably turn their headlights on incorrectly or otherwise.

Personally I'd still rather have a window than no window. I usually sleep with an eye mask anyway because light comes through my windows at home also.

I was looking at a cement wall 1m away at a hotel in Japan. I think the reason for the window might have been an emergency fire escape...? 😐
