Always has been. Back in like 2016 you could look at removeddit and see that about 95% of posts that made it to the front page got removed. No, that's not a typo.

Reddit is quickly becoming a den of censorship, the opposite of what it used to stand for.

It's a den of censorship for 10 years now, only at first it was chuds who were censored, especially when it comes to denying someone's chosen gender.

Reddit has totally turned to shit, censorship, gatekeepers, trash site.

To be fair, most of Lemmy isn't either. Same dog piling and emotional based crowd behavior here as there is there. If you want to speak critically about something not well aligned to the viewpoint and opinions of others here you get shot down and shit on the same, if not worse, than on reddit (echo chamber effect seems stronger here).

I'd say the ratio is about the same, it is the Internet after all.

Difference being that reddit also has platform abuse and manipulation that Lemmy doesn't.

"moderated by reasonable people" is not a possible scenario

As far as I can tell it is common on Reddit for manual review of automated mod actions to just not happen. If it does happen, it's often irrelevant anyway when it's a day or two later and everyone has already moved on. I can't really give numbers or evidence and this is only based on a handful of inconclusive anecdotal experiences, because Reddit moderation is deliberately opaque. Given that, people should probably be wondering what they're trying to hide.
