I love Gorillaz and have listened to Deltron 3030 plenty of times but never made the connection!
I love Gorillaz and have listened to Deltron 3030 plenty of times but never made the connection!
Thats a fun fact i did not know!
If you must is one of the best bloc party jams of all time.
Glad to see plenty of gorillaz in there!
Actually a lot of yours align with mine such as Tame Impala and King Gizzard. I'm gonna check out some of the others you have.
I don't really listen to specific albums, just certain artists and playlists.
I will throw in Franz Ferdinand - Hits to the head album though
You check out Tame Impala's live rendition of innerspeaker yet?
Better then the studio album by far, and the visuals are tight. The session starts at dusk and it slowly turns night as the album progresses.
CunninLynguists - Will Rap for Food
Nappy Roots - Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz
Deltron Zero - Deltron 3030
Jurassic 5 - self titled album
Lupe Fiasco Food & Liquor
Deltron Zero - Deltron 3030

If you're willing to go a bit out of hip hop you'd probably love Dijon. Our tastes seem pretty similar. I'm assuming you listen to Freddie Gibbs? If not Bandana for sure collab with madlib and it sounds amazing
Love that Forever story is there as both original and extended version! Sticking to the strong lyricism rap themes Food and Liquor from Lupe Fiasco is great.
I think Eminem's latest project The Death of Slim Shady was a lot of fun and showed his talent as an artist but it's not for everyone thematically.
illmatic
I listen to several of the same rap albums as OP and I also love some Aesop Rock.
Our musical tastes seem almost perfectly aligned, so I'll try and throw out a few curve balls:
You should check out Psyence Fiction by UNKLE, I think you would enjoy it based on your taste for Gorillaz, and maybe Mezzanine by Massive Attack and Becoming X by Sneaker Pimps. My top picks off each album would be "Guns Blazing", "Bloodstain" and "Rabbit in Your Headlights" off the first one and "Black Milk", " Inertia Creeps" and "Mezzanine" off the second, and "Tesko Suicide" , "6 Underground" and "Spin Spin Sugar" off the third. But honestly I feel like these are just albums you gotta do a sequential listen of. Let me know if you enjoy any of them!
Actually one last one, I'd throw in The Sun Rises in the East by Jeru the Damaja, "Mental Stamina" and "Jungle Music" are solid
Glad you enjoyed them!
I love Psyence Fiction. I'm not even sure what genre it fits into, maybe trip-hop?
Yeah it's usually classified under trip-hop. Such a good album and the sound is so diverse. You would not think guns blazing and lonely souls came off the same album
Solid tracks. Nursery rhyme is one of my favorite tracks, goes so hard and it's not even a metal album.
Fuck me I forgot to add "You Can't Stop The Prophet" off of Sun Rises in the East, that's probably the best song on the album.
Kinda older at this point, but I still love Cadence Weapon's "Breaking Kayfabe." In 2009 he was named Edmonton's Poet Laureate.
Because you like Handsome Boy Modelling School I'd give Lovage - Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By a spin.
Holy shit Archive mentioned!!! Controlling Crowds is perfect. Dangervisit and Come on Get High are some of my favorite Archive songs post-Londinium
I love the short film for Axiom, I rewatch it every couple of months. Just an absolute banger of a music film. Baptism is such a raw and visceral track, and the accompanying video just elevates it.
Didn't notice The Streets in your top 100. It's kind of in line with Gorillaz. My fave album of theirs: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/...
The album Syro by Aphex Twin.
I share a lot of those albums in my top listens! I highly suggest any album by the Avalanches (there are only 3.) Start with Since I Left You, then Wildflower, then We Will Always Love You. They're a group from Australia that kinda popularized Plunderphonics. Where they just bought a TON of old records and made songs purely from samples. Since I Left You is an amazing album that is pure samples, easily over 1000 samples were used.
Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. (60's Psychedelic rock, nearly all of the songs were hits, that's how good it is)
Twin Fantasy by Car Seat Headrest (indie rock)
3D Country by Geese (country rock made by a punk band)
[the future academy of noise, rhythm and gardening presents...] The Dream by The Orb. (Ambient house? Can't remember the exact genre, very ambient, sample heavy and "lush" but also dancable)
Keep It Unreal by Mr. Scruff (acid/nu-jazz I think?)
Frequencies From Planet Ten, Time Travelling Blues by Orange Goblin (two albums, stoner metal)
The Crazy World of Arthur Brown (by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown). (Psychedelic rock with rnb/soul-style vocals, also possibly one of the first narrative-based albums)
Ziltoid the Omniscient by Devin Townsend (prog-metal, one of the greatest albums of all time)
And if you want the heaviest album I've ever heard, try Snailking by Ufomammut. It's... It's something else. Basically a mix of doom and stoner metal but with sludge metal effects. Best way I think I can describe it is if Pink Floyd had been a doom metal band addicted to Lovecraft. It's trippy in a lovecraftian kinda way.
Anyway, gonna cut myself off here.

Appreciate the recommendation.
Anyway, gonna cut myself off here.
I give you permission to continue.
Now playing Red Fang - Prehistoric dog
How you got not RTJ?!
Listen to all 4 RTJ albums pls
I don't see any of The Avalanches on there. All their stuff is good, but if you haven't listened to them, probably start with the original Since I Left You album.
For reference, I discovered J Dilla - Donuts when trying to find more stuff like The Avalanches.
Watch !sessionjams@sh.itjust.works you never know what might get posted.
We have similar taste and you need to listen to Kalush (and Kalush Orchestra) - Ukrainian hip hop! The “Orchestra” group has more folk influences but all of it is just banger after banger. I don’t understand a word of Ukrainian but I love these guys.
Metallica - S&M (Symphony and Metallica)
The old one, not the newer one. It's a live recording.
Metallica and the San Francisco symphony, honestly some of the better versions of their songs are on this album. No Leaf Clover is my favorite from it.
Also, CunninLynguists - Strange Journey volume 3
I'll elaborate on artists I see here already amd recommend MF Doom's Mm..Food, The White Stripe's Elephant, and a collaboration between MF Doom and Danger Mouse; The Mouse and the Mask. The last is particularly good if you're familliar with Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
P.U.L.S.E.
Upgrade that Dark Side of the Moon.
After going through your list a second time, I don't see gorillaz newest album Cracker Island on it. I never thought the gorillaz would ever get close to their demon days height but I love their new album almost as much (its close, but you can't outshine the sun)
Something different - Lorn - Just listen to everything xD
To stay more hip hop
Cult of the Damned and all of their side projects, Lee Scott is a fucking son and pretty much everything he touches is gold. My particular favourite is the "Cult Mountain" side project.
I second Lorn! Dark ambient electronic sprinkled liberally with glitch elements is chef's kiss.
Also would recommended Amon Tobin. ISAM is one of my favorite albums, and Lost and Found is often the song I'll put on to introduce folks to his style.
Big Boi and Phantom made a collab album.
Anything by J5 really, it's all golden.
Its a stage original rollin...
Can't see the list but basing this on the comments - I have been enjoying the new Hard Quartet album and think you might like. Rock and roll, more or less.
Janelle Monae, any of the first 3 albums in particular, but all of hers flow well.
Run the Jewels, if they aren't already in your list. Second album, but again, any.
Absolutely love the new Fontaines DC album.
Here's something unique. The album "Acheron" by Mechina.
I don't think it's in your regular taste. But it's unique enough to be a suggestion.
Ride - Nowhere
Best album but their best song will always be Dreamcrusher off of Time Stands Still!
You'd probably like Paul's Boutique by the Beastie Boys. You may also wanna try Nujabe's Modal Soul.
Sad, Fat Luck by Ceschi
Mechanical Keyboard Sounds: Recordings of Bespoke and Customized Mechanical Keyboards
Edit: This is less music, and more relaxation sounds. But I really like it.
Point by Cornelius
over the garden wall soundtrack spotted
I don't know most of those so I can't really get a grasp on your tastes but I'll throw a few albums I really like into the ring anyways!
Ruin - The Amazing Devil The Search - NF Everything is Wrong - Lincoln Needle and Thread - Roland Faunte Starbound Orchestral - Curtis Schweitzer Smile! :D - Porter Robinson Dark Matter - Les Friction
I tried to pick some stuff that was really all over the place, hopefully something in there speaks to you
I haven't heard most of those artists but some of the albums art reminds me of MC Lars
Suite for Ma Dukes by Miguel Atwood Ferguson. Live recording of a Dilla tribute concert with a 60 piece orchestra. Stakes Is High with Posdnuos and Talib Kweli is a standout. Album is on Bandcamp and the full concert video is on YouTube.
In the World: From Natchez to New York by Olu Dara. He's the father of Nas (who guests on the album) and an accomplished jazz musician in his own right, but this isn't a jazz album. Okra is in my top three songs about food.
Fela Soul by Amerigo Gazaway. A mashup of De La Soul and Fela Kuti. "Music is the weapon. Music is the future. Music is the weapon of the future."
I see a lot of my favorites in that list. Some of my top albums I don't see:
Laurie Anderson - Strange Angels
Somewhere in the In-between by Streetlight Manifesto
I've been slowly digging into their discography recently and holy crap Ska is so funny because it'll be a bopping tune but then you catch the lyrics and find it's a song about war, death, collapse, etc.
This music video definitely embodies that same disconnect. Cute animal animation with bopping music except wait what are those people doing? What are those animals doing? Oh my is that how this ends?!
I'd recommend this album, or if you don't have time for the whole thing, this specific song on it.
Album: Maximum Love - Jupiter
Song: Dangerous Love
I might have missed it but I don’t see the Under Pressure album for Logic. Might to get your listens up on that one
Phantomime - Mori Calliope
Literally anything by Nappy Roots.
The Game is underrated IMO.
Chiddy Bang — Opposite of Adults
I really like Mark Battles. “Real Ones, “Numbers2” and “How” are solid tracks.
“Nina” by Rhapsody is a great track.
Preschtale by C-jeff
Based on your most listened, maybe try Little Simz, clipping, Fantasic Negrito (Album: Last Days of Oakland)
For something maybe a little outside the box I recommend The Books, Gramatik, Pretty Lights, Cosmo Sheldrake
A Tribe Called Quest - Beats, Rhymes, & Life
Since you are trying to expand your horizons here's a bunch of weird stuff I like:
thanks for using Leebra!
go to feed...
Deltron 3030.
Hes the rapper for the gorillaz but also has/had a solo career before/during/after the gorillaz as del the funkee homosapien.
The album is a sci-fi futurism concept hip hop album.
