More people in the ocean than I expected. I guess they would like oranges more though.
Fun fact: the British Navy used to keep lime trees on board which is why British people are called limeys.
I think Marianas oranges taste the best, but submarine harvesting makes them prohibitively expensive.

Not a real continent
False. It exludes Brazil, which produces 60% of the worlds orange juice, 90% 9f it in the state of São Paulo, which is crosse by the Tropic of Capricorn.

Oh, shit, got 'em.

Real projections: mercator, globe

why have you put me on the first map? I don't like orange juice
South Africa too
Citrus fruits have been grown as far north as the UK for 100s of years and climate change is making that even easier.
It's missing Mediterranean countries, Spain is quite full of orange trees too
The open of Hal trying to fix a lightbulb lives in my head. ADHD is real.
I've only seen bits and pieces of the show but I liked them. Is MitM still good in 2026?
Yes. I rewatched it recently and it’s still spot on.
Except that one line in that one episode where Lois yells at the boys, “Are you Aborigines?!” Which is… gross. The way she says it is hard to make out - I had no idea what she was saying when I first watched it. But it’s especially odd because it doesn’t match with the rest of her character to use ethnic terms as insults. Thankfully, that’s the only questionable “joke” I can recall in the whole series. Best not let it spoil a damn funny show.
I can't speak for all, but I like her more as an adult. I can see her perspective better, and just how much she does and puts up with from her family (including her husband.) It absolutely all went over my head when I saw the show when I was a kid/teen (I was pretty much the same age as Malcolm throughout its original run), so it's been enlightening to see the show again and understand the characters more deeply.
I assumed the same, but I saw an episode a few years ago when stuck in a hotel and I still hated her character. Does not help that a lot of the story lines have their basis on a character doing something unknowing that it will cause the issue the story then has to solve, and then having her more then other characters fill the part of making things bad or worse.
I never thought her character was "bad" or "evil" and the actress did a great job most of the time. I just found her character insufferable most of the time. Actually most of the characters have points where they are insufferable, and that might in retrospect be why the show holds up.
I'd say so. If you don't like the first few episodes, you probably won't like the rest.
It is still good, so much so that they just put out a reunion special mini series last month which is well worth your time if you enjoyed the original run.
Malcolm In The Middle: Life's Still Unfair
As ever, Hal is the best thing in it, but it's a pretty high bar.
Cool, I'll check it out. (From the library)
It’s expensive because urbanization, climate change, and citrus greening disease. We’re getting rid of farmland with sprawl, climate change is worsening storms and cold snaps that damage crops, and citrus greening disease is slowly killing the survivors.
(After discovering carrots) "Oh fuck."
Or: "Purples." I think the orange color is pretty recent.

The orange colored fruit, or the fruit colored color?
Whatever is in the picture doesn't even look like cheap OJ from concentrate. Isn't it just a corn syrup solution with orange colouring, like your version of Fanta?
The jug in the picture looks like a Minute Maid jug from the time, which would probably be a from concentrate concoction. I think you may be thinking of Sunny D which is a much brighter yellow color and is essentially an orange colored sugar drink. Not from concentrate is sold here under brands like Simply.
Also not neon orange
Sort of relevant https://slate.com/...
Yep, you basically can't grow oranges in Florida anymore, or most citrus really. Every tree I planted ended up getting the blight. Only my potted lime tree that I kept in a screened area did OK and produced fruit.
I haven't been able to afford orange juice in like a year and a half.
