NB: I was on the wiki page for Lead to read about all the fun things it does to your body and end up on this page. I don't know if I would have noticed anything off about this article without this note at the top, but something sure seems off about it. Either that, or scientists really did come up with this theory in 2025.

I definitely heard about this kind of thing earlier than 2025. It's pretty well-known that the Romans were fond of lead items, including lead-sweetened wine. Seems unlikely that it significantly impacted the decline of the empire, but it probably didn't help, either.
