Michigan Jewish Dems circulate letter endorsing Republican Mike Rogers for Senate

9 hours ago by Florencia (she/her) to c/politics

The signatories say they ‘fear the far-left and anti-Jewish elements in the Democratic party would become dominant’ if Abdul El-Sayed is elected

Jewish leaders in Michigan are circulating an open letter urging Jewish Democrats and independents in the battleground state to sign their names in support of former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) as he faces Abdul El-Sayed, the far-left Democratic nominee for Senate whose hostile positions on Israel have alarmed many Jewish voters.

The letter, which was obtained by Jewish Insider on Wednesday and has not yet been publicized, is led by Eric Bronstein, a Detroit businessman, among others identifying as Democrats and independents.

It came to light after a fundraiser for Rogers on Tuesday night hosted by three prominent Jewish Democratic bundlers in Michigan who are likewise alarmed by El-Sayed’s candidacy. The growing efforts among Jewish Democrats to rally support for Rogers in the key Senate race illustrate the degree to which El-Sayed has alienated a sizable and politically active swing voting bloc in what is expected to be a close election.

Should be corrected to "Michigan Jewish conservatives pretending to be Dems circulars letter..."

No pretending going on here. For a lot of establishment Democrats this has been standard operating procedure. We absolutely need to change what a Democrat is and make it not include people like them though. And the fact they're reacting like this. Indicates that they know just how painfully vulnerable they are now that the DSA is directly targeting them and not just running third party.

Even more accurate would be Michigan Zionists. Don't let them get away with pretending this is about Judaism. Its about denying the liberation of the Palestinian people and continuing the ongoing oppression and genocide.

In all fairness, no one really knows what "Dem" even means anymore, besides a vague promise to not be as awful as the republicans, which the dems dont live up to where Israel is concerned.

No, the title is accurate. There are a bunch of people that I've run into that flat out said if the DSA candidate for governor on my state won, they'd vote Republican.

Some people here in the Midwest have IQs that rival the average temp, it fucking sucks to hear that they'd rather support the people murdering people in the street over a DSA candidate.

What happened to "Blue no matter who?"

Seems like that particular messaging got real quiet once the DSA started winning.

Well, being disingenuous with literally ever fucking word they speak has worked wonders for Republicans. Turns out to be an effective technique for Corporate and Zionist Democrats too. It's almost like a class war or something.

That might be why they endorsed him. Israel supports which ever does what they say… and el Sayed almost certainly won’t.

There was never any doubt, the moderates will try to sabotage progressives in the general election.

Their main purpose is not to beat republicans and keep them out of office, it's to keep control of the party.

As always, the "moderates" are weaponizing jewish people to keep control. Fuck you Starmer by the way you fucking cunt.

I think the people of Michigan REALLY need to not underestimate the power of influence Israel, racism, the new Red Scare and Islamophobia have in this race.

Countless old fucks and Zionist Dem voters, as well as simply racist Dems are gonna jump ship, or at least refuse to turn out.

Don't get too comfortable in this race, nor others. Remember, even a close race that ends in victory is ripe for Trump and his goons to steal.

I’m proud to say that my son and I are doing our part. I will not relent in my continued condemnation of the apartheid state of Israel. We both voted in the primary, and almost all of my picks got through. I asked him a few days after the results were announced how he voted, stressing to him that he does NOT have to reveal that to anyone, even me, but that I was just curious. Without skipping a beat, he mentioned how our man destroyed Haley and the $30 million dollar infusion by a foreign state.

Yes, it seems Jews are worried about antisemitism permeating leftism.

What will the response of leftists be?

It will likely involve hating Jews.

These sure sound like Zionists to me. Zionists and those trying to push Zionists love to describe them as just Jewish while policing the Jewishness of Antizionists. It's a propaganda tool, not reality.

The main parties across the west use the jewish community as tools to attack upstarts in their parties and opponents. Not all Jewish people are their tools, Jewish Voices for Peace and the like and all. Bernie Sanders is Jewish too.

The party, and their media, are going to frame it as Jewish because tarring everyone not falling in line with their best fascist friends is an effective tactic because some people (in this case you,) are too, let's say misguided, to not be manipulated by the polits and their media.

Eric Bronstein, a Detroit businessman

I guess this guy is all Jews now, folks.

Pretty fucking gross, dude. Even if it was every Jew, the response should be how did we alienate them, and can the relationship be rehabilitated without compromising our morals? not Welp, Jews bad.
