These are just not new things at all in US society. Maybe he thinks it's new because he's never experienced it before. But it shows a profound ignorance of American history to say something like that.
"Americans are willing to resort to violence to maintain their freedom. That's a problem this country has never seen, and I'm proud of this administration for squashing that freedom and taking away their independence"
It took courage to punch down on some of the most vulnerable members of our population, to destroy legal precedent that a majority of Americans strongly supported. And he did it all for no better reason than to indulge his own perverse views on women.
This one statement tells you everything you need to know about Samuel Alito.
What it took was for 6+ members of the court to be Catholics and to impose their religious creed on the rest of us.
