Y'all some perverts
My lemmy is full of cats. So many cats
mine is just full of memes which I can't find any other active communities tbh
same here
You're browsing via the same instance as OP. Perhaps you want to browse All rather than Local?
Use lemmyverse.net!
I need more cats. I don’t have the right ratio yet

I don't mind either kind of cat, but I prefer cats.
Where can I find these cats... I am missing my daily feline pics to brighten my day. 🥺
And here I am thinking I haven't seen nearly enough porn on lemmy.
You have "block all NSFW content" enabled in your account, the problem is that the setting block any content NSFW and lots of them aren't porn at all, just sensitive content. This is why many are asking for a proper PORN tag to block exclusively that. Until then the best we can do either to block all or block one community at the time.
a single porn
😁
You’re lucky. I’ve had to block so many yiff communities. I don’t mind the odd ass, boob, or even dick in my feed, but come on…
Moi sopulitoveri!
Yes. It does, mostly. It's kinda nice.
I guess I'm doing it wrong then, all I see are days old posts about how this place isn't reddit and how people are délétion their reddit posts, and how life without reddit is si much more betterer. REDDIT! Where are the tits?
Sort by Hot
Gadzooks! Titties everywhere! And more! HUZZAH!
I had to cut down on meme-communities because the traffic is just so much higher than anywhere else.
All I've been getting are a ton of old memes
Some apps have implemented it, I've heard Connect on Android is one of them.
Instances can block other instances but not users from what I can tell. When I see something I be don't want to regularly see I go to that community and block it, like all of the popular porn communities that often float to the top.
Right, this is what I've been doing so far, it's just getting a bit annoying to keep blocking communities left and right lol. Really looking forward to the block instance feature.
I have seen so much more porn on a single night of reddit than I have the entire time I've been on lemmy. I feel this is just a weird psyop to scare people away from the "degenerate leftist place!"
Maybe OP is very conservative and feels it's porn to see a woman's ankles? Imagine what those people must think looking at any form of media 🤣🤣🤣
After frequenting 4chan for a few years, I welcome the vanilla stuff honestly 🤣🤣😂😂😅😅😅😅
The amount of ai gen, hentai, furry, and trans porn I see when viewing All is off the charts. I'm constantly blocking those communities. It seems like I'm blocking the same ones over and over but it's all just coming from other instances.
Replied to the wrong comment 😭
Really? I've been blocking porn communities constantly since my app had the option a few days ago.
I've blocked at least 7 in just the last 12 hours.
I'm surprised you haven't came across all the ai generated porn subs while browsing /all/
I just checked my filters and I've blocked 50 porn communities within the last 5 days.
Bro, what app are you using? I tried jebora and now using connect and I still can't seem to find any porn
Do you have NSFW posts hidden as default? That can hide every porn post.
I use the voyager( WefWef) app and it's pretty great.
Lol I actually just blocked another 10 porn subs since I last commented here. Found so many by just scrolling on /all/
Interesting - I just checked my settings in connect - I have nsfw set to blur, and I joined lemmy.world instance, and I still don't see any porn... I mean I'm not mad about it, I just wonder how we can have such a different experience. It's interesting 🤔
Do you think it is because of your instance? I haven't seen any porn at all and I am thankful for that. I am guessing no one in world ever went to a porn community or it is because I usually look in all + active or local + active.
That shouldn't happen. The issue is more that the nsfw flair is used for a ton of things besides just porn. Same issue that Reddit has.
They just need to make a separate tag for porn here. Otherwise you'll miss out on posts that aren't porn but flaired NSFW for any other reason.
The web interface and at least Voyager on mobile all have the option to block NSFW posts. So if you’re getting them in your All feed, you have unchecked that option (it was default on Lemmy.world, not sure about other servers)
Go back to Facebook Grandma
It depends which instances you federate with
I guess Lemmy.world with adult content toggle off is a good option
Right! Nothing.
Have you tried blocking those NSFW communities?
I checked on the All feed, both under New and Active. It took me several pages of browsing to find a single pornographic submission, and to be honest all you really have to do is go into settings and either disable NSFW content or block communities which post porn. Only like... two or three NSFW communities on LemmyNSFW are really hitting the All feed.
All depends very much on the instance you are in. Depending on who the people in your instance subscribe to, is what is shown in all. I didnt have much porn between .ca or reddthat yesterday. It also depends on how you sort in that instance.
There's a shit ton of porn subs that pop up throughout the days. Ive blocked 50 so far in under a week. That's all just from them popping up on /all/ + top 6 hours and me blocking as I see on my feed.
I'm actually confused at all the people who haven't seen the porn lmao. There is always at least one post at the top of my feed when I get on.
I guess op is the pervert
Sexy porn communists.
You and the OP inspired this post
what are these awful, awful communities I should be staying away from
![]()
looks over shoulder whispers lemmynsfw.com
I actually haven't seen any. Although I don't doubt that it's out there.
You don't have to be looking for it... You just aren't federating with the instances that post it. In my case, tchncs.de federates with lemmy.nsfw. Because of this I do see porn in the all communities tab.
there is no algorithm here in charge
I think that's the most refreshing and underrated thing about Lemmy. I have seen that sometimes when I come back, I see repeat posts (which I have not read). I then close Lemmy, telling myself "I'll just come back later I guess".
Any other social media or Reddit front-page has gallons of content and "recommended communities/posts" which just keep your eyes glued to the screen for maximizing profits and degrading your mental health.
I hope this is promoted as a plus point whenever someone recommends Lemmy to others.
There should be an option in your user settings to, "show me NSFW content."
Also, as other commentors said, depending on what instance you've signed up on the porn could've been defederated.
Also, presuming you're on lemmy.world, there aren't that many large porn communities on this instance. You won't see much porn if you scroll through local but you'll see a lot more on all.
Lastly, if you want to go directly to the porn, one of the more larger porn instances is Lemmynsfw.com
Some instances defederate from porn instances.
There is no main one, it's decentralized.
Account gated? I can see all the porn from that instance without having to make an account. It's the server I've blocked the most subs from.
I dunno what instance you're on, but I have allowed NSFW on lemmy.world and rarely have I seen porn. Thankfully a lot of it is over at lemmynsfw.com instead so I can see stuff labeled NSFW here without being flooded with porn. Unless .world defederated from lemmysnfw at some point. I haven't paid attention to much meta news and who has defederated from who.
Reminds me of the old Reddit times when you had some random nudes here and there while browsing through the “all“ sub / timeline.
I don’t think that’s a problem and should not happen when you tailor your subscribed communities accordingly or choose to blur / filter NSFW.
the internet runs on porn
It's what it's for!

Where is the NSFW switch? I have seen none porn here yet
Yeah same here.
Nvm
I don't think the majority of normal adults have seen a single porn, or even heard of sex.
Yeah what sick people would sit half naked in that office chair looking at the screen, one hand on the mouse, listening intensively that no one in the house is nearby, searching for the filth that would make the moment complete. Sick sick people, tell me where to find it
Might have something to do with the way kbin ranks posts. Top posts are mostly ranked according to boosts rather than upvotes (favourites). I'd guess people are less likely to boost porn since a boost theoretically 'retweets' the post. Actually I'm also not sure if you can boost from Lemmy?
I get porn when browsing new or hot on all.
Mostly gay and furry porn, but it's still porn. Block almost all of it as that's not why I'm here.
Maybe I haven't been hanging around Lemmy that long, but I haven't seen any NSFW stuff yet. Might be tempting fate, and considering I am looking at Lemmy at work.
Weird, because I haven't seen anything like that afaik.
I saw a few nasty pics of a woman defaecating that were just slipped into random trending posts a couple of days ago, but it seems to have calmed down now. No idea how that kind of thing is going to be prevented in the future, but hopefully there will be something.
One thing that annoyed me a bit was that Lemmy Connect was not blurring the images, even though they had been heavily downvoted and I had blur NSFW enabled. I guess it only blurs things tagged, not things that have been downvoted, and it might be worth adding the option to blur images on -n downvotes as an option to enable users to crowd source censor images.
What? Where?
Enable "show nsfw pages"
Lemmynsfw .com is the server I've blocked the most communities from.
Everything is just porn there lol.
Yeah lmao. Just wanted to state that for people to know to go there for porn if they are looking.
I think it's memes. Memes all the way down.
Porn is always the trailblazer. Without the demand for porn we wouldn't have had VHS (and hence the whole concept of video on demand in your home), or instant credit card payment gateways.
I guess what I'm trying to say is: an unhealthy amount of porn = a healthy community.
That’s not really true though. We got home video because it allowed us to watch films at home. There’s an argument that VHS won over Betamax because Sony didn’t allow porn titles on Betamax. Even if that’s true, it was only an advantage for VHS because there was no other easy way to get that content.
Now there is no problem with accessing porn on the internet. In fact the differentiator for many service providers is how to successfully protect households and schools from porn. If Lemmy becomes known as “the porn network”, little Johnny is going to find that loophole closed in short order.
I have nsfw and I haven't seen any. Is this satire? Oh I'm using WefWef fyi
where? lol, I haven't really seen any porn beside someone spamming a scat gif in the comments, but other than that it has been pretty family friendly.
Well with all the performance issued lately, it matters a bit..I've seen inconsistent posts between instances. Although the fact that you can read this suggests sync is currently working
Nevertheless, I've seen almost zero porn in All, so..something is certainly different between our experiences, and many other people here are saying they're not seeing anything either.
I'm using voyager (used to be wefwef), with default sort=hot, and hide nsfw off.
Currently, of the first 150 posts in All, only number 42 is porn (from gonewild)
That's disgusting, where?
Don't lie you like it
Dude just make a different account that's for porn only.
Some instances block porn by default(e.g lemmy.ml) so those users dont see them. However this is not true for all instances
Pretty sure my instance also blocks porn. Can't say I mind it, really, because I can just create an account on a porn instance.
Allows me to keep NSFW posts on, but not have to worry about pulling up a pic of a gaped ass in public. Plus if I was interested in following porn communities, I'd probably create a second account anyway. And then I wouldn't even have to wade through all of the regular stuff, I could just sign up for a porn instance. Win-win.
The plausible deniability is nice. Many places can see what domain you go to, but that's the only thing they can see.
I can't say I mind it either way. I don't mind that our instance blocks porn, but I'm glad there are some instances that don't.
Bruh, I bet I have blocked over 100 communities. So much porn. Y'all need a bf/gf. Go out and meet someone and give your meat a rest. Lol
NSFW tags are still used for spoilers here. I’d be cutting out major parts of subs I want to see by disabling NSFW content.
I’m also having the same problems as OP. I can’t reliably browse local or all at work because some uncensored hardcore porn is fairly likely to show up
I've also seen posts marked nsfw that just had a naughty word or were mildly risqué. I don't want a completely tame lemmy experience. I just don't want a butthole to scroll across my screen when I'm standing in line at Target.
You can also block an instance altogether(lemmynsfw or something)
I've done this. It helped a bit. Still getting the odd community. It's not a major deal...just saying there's a lot. lol
I sort by active by default and don't see any nsfw usually. Also selecting to view "subscribed" channels may help
Same, I ended up taking the recommendation of another user and making an account on sopuli.xyz because they’ve blocked lemmynsfw and some other porn instances. Best decision I’ve made regarding Lemmy thus far. I probably won’t be going back to my lemmy.world or beehaw accounts any time soon unless something happens to sopuli.
Do you have NSFW posts hidden?
I see them daily and blocked 50 communities when the last week. I don't search for it. It's just there on /all/ every day.
I just tested some stuff after talking to another user.
Both my blahaj & .world accounts show porn when I am on the Voyager(WefWef) app.
When I use my accounts on the liftoff app I see zero porn posts. I'm confused at what is causing the issue tbh. I have NSFW posts set to be shown on the liftoff app but there's nothing there.
I'm on a different instance that's all about porn. I think it's actually the biggest instance for porn.
NSFW content is hidden by default, you need to view it with an account that allows NSFW content to see the porn. There is a lot, both in quantity and variety
Can someone help me understand how Lemmy works?
When I click this link I can't see very much content -- presumably because I'm not logged in and NSFW content is hidden by default.
Is there a way to get a view of the "lemmynsfw Frontpage", as my logged in lemmy.fmhy.ml identity? Specifically I want to see the lemmynsfw "local" view as if I was logged in there directly.
Bonus question; is there an easy way to do something like that on mobile, without fiddling with URLs?
You can't see the front page from another instance, also because it's not that useful. You can join communities from other instances and interact on posts.
I don't know if there's a better solution, but even on mastodon, you'll have to piss yourself off by copying and pasting community and post urls.
Still better than politics
Let's conclude.
I have enabled NSFW content on lemmy.ml and lemmy.world. When I look up specific NSFW content, the results on lemmy.world are way more. Especially for NSFW instances, but also some posts itself. So for some reason, the result on lemmy.ml (and other instance) are censored and filtered. I mean, it's fine if you don't look for that content. What makes me wonder is, why there is no information about it when you join an instance.
Right now most of the NSFW content is posted to the LemmyNSFW instance.
Lemmy.ml has defederated from that instance, lemmy.world has not, that's the only "censorship" going on. This is all public information you can find by clicking on "instances" at the bottom of these instances home pages.
There isn't really that much but customizing your experience is not the same as reddit so you see it all until you block instances.
Settings > uncheck "Show NSFW content" then lol
Otherwise, I hope you use tissues made from recycled paper lol
Two things you can do:
You can change your account settings to filter out all NSFW content.
Alternatively, since NSFW can include more than just porn, you can block specific NSFW communities (most of which will probably come from lemmynsfw.com) as you encounter them. While logged in, if you encounter an NSFW community in your feed, just click on it to go to its main page (ex. !naked@lemmynsfw.com, a community from my own blocklist), go to the sidebar, and click "Block Community".

I just banned all the porn and anime subs, good these enoying cunts where always spamming
Could you elaborate on how that works?
Not sure how it works right now… but it’s announced on their Mastodon account: https://mastodon.social/...
Everyone registers on lemmy.world as if there were no other options. There are several porn-free instances, just use those.
I suppose you didn't enable NSFW, those who complain about it are probably the ones who allowed it for non-porn NSFW content.
Lemmy.world does federate with lemmynsfw and pornlemmy.
I have it enabled. There's plenty of others in this thread, who also state they have it enabled and are in the same boat.
I know there's no algorithm in the background, but it's odd how different the experiences are.
Yes, it’s interesting, I can't really understand that either.
I blocked all the porn
Lmao. Don't you know there's something called NSFW?
I don't see much porn, but my instance is currently so small that my subscription and all feeds aren't really that different yet.
I'm using Connect for Lemmy, and under "All" it's everywhere. If you can't find it, you aren't looking. Would like an easier way to filter it all out rather than blocking individual communities
Of course.
I might try that. Thanks!
There's an option to block entire instances in Connect; they'd still show up in your browser, but it's good enough if you primarily browse on mobile
There's cableporn and I'm okay with it
Not if you sort by active. Active reliably results in posts with a ton of discussion happening, being on top.
Memes and porn aren't known for amassing hundreds of comments, so much as upvotes.
That's the whole point of active, posts stay up there as long as there are still people talking in the comments. It's so much better than reddit that just chokes out all discourse the second a piece of content is "too old"
Which is great until the same post from 2 weeks ago has been the top of your active feed in home or local.
I honestly much preferred the Reddit method of once it’s a day old, move on.

i havent seen a single porn so far on lemmy. i think my instance blocks it.
