“I Almost D!ed After Being Denied Medical Care”: Conservative Christian Trump Voter Shocked to Learn Fetal Heartbeat Bill Applies to Her Too

8 months ago by spaghettiwestern to c/leopardsatemyface

DES MOINES, IA — Jessica Djukanovic, a conservative wrestling coach, mother of four, and loyal voter for the “Traditional Values and Strict Legislation Party,” is reportedly “shocked and appalled” to discover that the very laws she helped implement are currently treating her life as a secondary concern to a non-viable fetus.

echodot 187 points 8 months ago

“I wasn’t allowed to choose me? Where’s the pro-life in that?”

That is literally what they voted for. They actually voted for the mother not to be allowed to have a choice in the matter.

This is what single digit IQ looks like folks.

Her community, her family, her school, her state, and our shared society failed this woman. That is some bottom tier comprehension and critical thinking that has to cultivated by basically everyone in her life.

It seems to be basically a blog, run by one person who calls themself an "independent journalist."

The "article" has gems like this:

For years, Djukanovic proudly stood with the Leopard Party, cheering on their platform of “protecting the unborn” and “getting the government out of our lives” (while simultaneously putting the government into everyone’s doctors’ offices). However, the celebratory mood shifted last month when a Leopard walked into her own living room and began sizing up her forehead.

As a general rule conservatives can't imagine how horrible a situation is until it applies to them. This is why empathy should be taught in school.

Some people lack empathy. Its not something you can teach unfortunately. They should be identified young so that they are never allowed to have any power of any kind. Its a disability worse than blindness or deafness. It is invisible but allows these people to be cruel and manipulate people without any guilt. It why we are in the situation in the world where these people have gained power. They manipulate the stupid people and those who are like them enjoy the pain and suffering they spread around. Until its their pain and suffering and suddenly its a problem.

Empathy can be taught. Some are better at it than others. Like literally everything else.

The exception might be with psychopaths, but that is such a small percentage and wouldn't swing an election.

No its not eugenics. Its keeping unsafe people from harming others. I didn't say they can't breed. Pretty telling statement from you that you went there first. You cannot teach empathy if the person doesn't have it naturally. That is just plain stupid. You can of course teach them to lie about it. It will be imperfect and they will only use it to manipulate people.

Most psychopaths are productive non violent and non victimizing citizens. Its apples and oranges. Many doctors have clear psychopathic tendencies. It doesn't make them pedo rapists or abusive. Like a clear lack of empathy does. It doesn't cause them to play games with peoples emotions for nothing more than their own entertainment. The two are nothing alike and like all human mental conditions there is some overlap.

The lack of empathy mostly overlaps with a cluster B diagnosis. Particularly NPD. Those are the people who say empathy isn't real or its learned.

Sure she did. ‘Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.’

Her misunderstanding was in not realizing which group she was in. She thought those laws applied to those other people, not her.

They are not conservatives. They call themselves that not knowing or understanding what the word means. They are regressives. They are some of the least personally conservative people in most respects. Especially in the material and monetary sense. They always want the best clothes and devices. The newest cars. They are a sham people and if they didn't do so much harm I could pity them. They are pitiful but in no way deserve pity.

The old in group thing is not just conservatives. That old thing is in play all over the world with a wide variety of names. Its Communism in the CCP. its Zionism in Palestine/israel. Its many other things in many places. It is in no way just a thing in the US. The one thing they have in common is there is some 'magical' word that shields them from their hypocrisy. Its the morally weak pretending they are morally superior while doing horrible things.

The Conservative movement wasn’t started to conserve money. It was started in Europe around the French Revolution as a way to conserve the power of the ruling class.

Around that time, the ruling class had a bit of an existential crisis; they had always believed that bloodline was what determined who was part of the In Group and who wasn’t. But during the French Revolution they started to think that perhaps bloodline wasn’t the way to judge who was Deserving of being in their little In-Group clique, or at least it might not be the only component of who should have access to it.

So they settled on money as their new main determining factor. It’s also why they (or those aspiring to the class) always want the best, shiniest new clothes and devices; it showcases their wealth and thus their eligibility for joining the In Group.

You can't seem to separate what they call themselves from what they are. They stole the word conservative which I consider myself a genuine conservative. Part of being a real conservative is not judging or involving yourselves in others lives. If they don't impact my life I care not what others do. Its taking changes slowly and in this world that is watching expenditures carefully. Its a lot of things. None of these are things what the majority calling themselves conservative today are.

You need to back up to the french revolution? Keep going. You can go back to the building of the pyramids and see the same thing. But I'm not talking about ancient Egypt much less the french revolution that quickly became just as In group as what they replaced. Just to be clear, fuck the french. I'm talking about the US today and don't need to muddy the waters.

The magats are not conservative today. They just call themselves that. They are regressive. You are just playing their game insisting on making this morass about in groups and other useless comparisons. You are a useful tool for them. Like I said the scam you describe is ongoing all over the world right now. Has been for nearly all of human existence. Its seems that you can't get past that. You keep talking about in groups like its some revelation when its just the way societies have always worked. If they were instantly gone today some new system just like it would spring up. Hell they might call themselves conservative but probably they would call themselves woke and would become just as corrupt quicker than you think.

My wife was denied medical care in Texas because she might be pregnant. There was no reason to think she might be, but they still wouldn't perform her mammogram, which was scheduled to follow up on a lump she found.

She ended up taking a pregnancy test in a Whataburger bathroom near the doctor's office. That's the state of medical care in Texas for women.

You'd think a medical facility that makes treatment decisions based on just the possibility that a woman is pregnant would also have some means of testing for that. Do they just refuse to touch women unless they bring their own pregnancy test in for the appointment? Having to go pee on a stick in the bathroom of a fast food restaurant is appalling.

And what if she just lies? This is more or less true for me: I have an IUD that has more or less ended my periods. Whenever they ask me for a last period I just say I don't have one and that I am not pregnant. I do not entertain any of their speculation. If you have no intention of remaining pregnant, it's a good enough answer.

I am skeptical of your story because I don't think any medical facility would accept the result of a pregnancy test not administered by a medical professional.

path: 0 21191458 21409314, hotness: undefined, score: 0, children: 2
moakley 3 points 7 months ago

Well it happened.

You're right they wouldn't have accepted the results. They called her while she was taking the pregnancy test to tell her not to bother, because it wouldn't be accurate enough anyway.

She was going to fight them on it, but the test was positive. So she just came home instead.

Her regular doctor said she wasn't going to recommend that facility anymore, because the whole thing is fucked up regardless of the outcome.

Even though mammograms are generally considered safe during pregnancy, her doctor just did an ultrasound instead. I believe that's because the doctor wasn't that worried about the lump, otherwise she'd have gotten the mammogram.

I didn't mention all that other stuff in my original comment because I don't want to distract from how fucked up it is that they treated her that way. It doesn't matter whether she was actually pregnant, or even if mammograms are considered unsafe for pregnant women (and again, they're generally not). They put a hypothetical unborn child over my wife's health. It's unacceptable.

"wished on the wrong party" is a funny way of saying "advocated for hatred and oppression". And you're leaving out the part where what's happening to them is what they said they think should happen.

It's hard to have sympathy for someone being treated how they thought others should be treated.
I do however have enough sympathy that I've consistently done everything in my power to keep it from happening to them.

Excited to hear the schadenfreude when Dem voters get the treatment they advocated for Palestinians

Yeah I’m glad for everyone who didn’t vote or voted for Trump. It’s great that Palestine is free now and no one has died since.

…the WHAT Riviera??

There is a huge difference between voting for a party that fails to be better less awful than another party in one single place (not even being worse!) because they are the only alternative, not because you have any love left for them on the one hand and campaigning for awful policies on the other!

One is a form of harm reduction, the other is a form of actively trying to harm people and that you pretend to not understand that makes me seriously question your motive.

Especially since there was not a single party running that was remotely decent, even if we look into the fringes. The American greens had kinda somewhat a not completely wrong take on Palestine (maybe), but were dogshit about Ukraine, because they were bought out by another imperialist mass murdering regime.

Ignoring your false premise that Democratic candidates were *in favor of genocide", particularly in a way that any other viable candidate wasn't, and ignoring that Democratic voters weren't in favor of those policies: you still have the fact that an Americans opinion on how our government should pressure another government to act towards another group is fundamentally different from an Americans opinion on how their government should treat them.

You're saying Americans should be genocided because what Israel is doing to Palestine is abhorrent.
I'm saying my sympathy for people who get hurt by what they explicitly voted for is limited to voting for them to not be hurt.

Democratic candidates were *in favor of genocide"

John Fetterman was walking past a group of pro-Palestinian protesters at the Capitol this month when, according to his aides, they accused him of having blood on his hands for supporting Israel in its war against Hamas. The Pennsylvania Democrat then went into his Senate office and grabbed an Israeli flag, his staff said, so he could wave it at the activists while they were being arrested.

Your party is awash in the blood of Gaza's children. And your voters continue to support the leaders that make this holocaust possible.

When your time comes, I wonder how you'll feel when others point and laugh?

One has to suffer sometimes to learn a lesson. God knows I've suffered for some of my mistakes in my life. Its not the only way to learn but sometimes it's the only way to learn.

Especially if you insist on it being the only way you will learn.

The evolutionary advantage of empathy is it means that you can imagine yourself in circumstances someone else is suffering, and improve things for your theoretical future benefit.

These people are defective humans. If everyone was like her the species would have gone extinct millennia ago.

Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.
