I don't like dem changes, it makes me go crazy for some years.

I researched shelf life of the plastic used and I already know the rate which my eye glasses break. So I will be rocking these for the next decade or more.

Did they come with lenses? Because I can't see how that's going to work if not, and if so, how you're predicting your prescription changes.

I pay like $30 for frame and lenses online, but I get a couple of them when I need them.

They are reading glasses with standard prescription.

I buy expensive Kodak lenses that last me MANY years, and My prescription didn't change.

They do break and I move the lense to a new frame.

Since 2015 I have been using the same frame. And changed my lense once.

However, I do take care of my lenses so it won't scratch.

I mainly started this system because I just don't like change, it would make me go crazy or something. I am a bit cuckoo

Edit: cuckoo back, i have this soap dispenser that dispenses soap foamy.you fill it with 1 part liquid soap and 2 or 3 part water.

I use a tissue LIKE A BRUSH to brush away the dust, this way the dust ln the lense won't scratch it. Then use that mild foam soap to wash the lense and then dry it by DABBING tissue on the lense.

Also, back hurts, not the hole area, the lower spine part. My legs hurt too... is that too much information? Well I think it is

I let the spray of the kitchen sink knock the dust off, then dawn power-wash, spray again.

They dry spot free and you don't get any haze

Does dabbing the tissue on the lens not leave water marks behind? What does it look like if you hold the glasses in front of a light bulb after doing that?

For the life of me I have not found a way to dry my glasses that leaves them perfectly clean. Idk what it is. And they are pretty much new.

Right now my method involves:

Soapy water in a spray bottle
a tiny glasses cloth, that lint-free type
mildly warm water

And I:

spray from up close to push debris off
rinse
spray again, cover the whole lenses
spray on the cloth too
use cloth on glasses gently, in straight lines up and down, left and right
spray again, just a bit
rinse in warm water
rinse cloth too
use a towel to dry only the frame of the glasses
squeeze cloth flat in my hand to almost fully dry it then let dry

After that no matter what I have tried to dry with, left my glasses more dirty than just letting them air dry.

It looks perfectly clean,under light.

What I do is after pouring the foamy soup on the glasses I rub it a bit with my hand then rinse it.

And dabbing with tissue never left those splotches

I think it might be because of the quality of the lense or you are using too much soap

Frames are the cheap part of glasses anyway, unless you go crazy designer.

My frames are always like $25, it's lenses than range from $200-$500, and I have a minimal prescription.

Ah, OP is talking about readers - that's a different model.

I just buy cheap ones from the dollar store and leave them everywhere as a "just in case".

Lasik? No thanks. In the 80-90s people were getting radial keratomy and now they have huge rates of blindness. The corneal flap from Lasik never heals for some people.

Yep. There are a lot of procedures in place to make sure that doesn't happen though. Age, thickness of the cornea, naturally dry eyes, etc. There's a whole suite of machines and scopes they poke and prod you with before you're even allowed to pay them $5000 to cut open your eyeballs.

I still regret not waiting a bit longer though. There's a newer version (a new machine really) that uses picosecond wavelength lasers to reshape the cornea without cutting creating a flap at all, so the surgeon only has to make a small slit to pull out the excess from with a special pair of tweezers.

This is a great idea. One thing I dislike about new frames lately is the use of silicone parts. Those dissolve in sweat. Otherwise I'd love to buy me 8 pairs.... But 47??? I don't even plan to be alive that long. It be cool if I was though. So maybe I should order 47 pairs.

That's the thing, I buy half frame where the nose pad is part of the frame body.

I like those because it doesn't leave an itchy red mark on my very sexy gorgeous boogery nose

And it last long.

That type of frame has a weak point the nylon string push on the two sides and eventually those corners break.

Usually takes a year, 2 years, 6 months etc.

But each frame is about USD 1.63 so who cares.

Exactly my thinking when I purchased my first plastic frames with silicone nose pads and grippy silicone coated/overlayed arms. Within a couple of months those frames were a total piece of junk. I don't know what degrades the silicon. I don't use any chemical products on my hair. So it's just water, bodily oils, and sweat. Maybe the oils?

What optometrist’s office do you go to that will fit lenses to frames they don’t sell? Used to be the one I went to would fit new lenses to your old frames, but nobody does that anymore because they want to force you to buy new everything.

I understand your reasoning, but 47 still sounds like a lot but that's just me. Knowing my (old) eyesight do decline regularly, I would not order more than a few at once. But as someone who see little interest in changing for the sake of changing and is deeply allergic to the way glasses are overpriced around here... That's quite smart, I must say.

I've never used Aliexpress (public confession mode on), may I ask if there is a way to also select the width of the frame? My head may now be bald as a baby's bottom, It's also fairly thick and broad and standard frames won't fit ;)

I searched a lot, order one frame that looked almost identical to the one I had WHICH was purchased in china's whole sale market by a family memeber.
That frame was OHHHHH YEAH BABY. Even better than mine.
Find reputable seller and those who mention material and dimension. There is ways to.measure your face for a glasses, opticians know that. Youtube is your friend.

But I didn't measure anything the distance between eyes and noss etc. I just compared the dimension of the frame compared to mine.

There is a way they measure eyeglass frames and if you checked many aliexpress listing you will know what to look for

Also you could go to fancy websites where you order lens and frames and you could see how they advise you to measure your head and what size frame suites you.

Edit: i didn't buy any lense or prescription lenses, I believe expensive lenses live longer and stay scratch free and doesn't yellow... I prefer clear polycarbonate as heavy glasses caused some mark/itch on my nose.

Currently I have a kodak lense.

I had been using the same metal frame full time for the last decade until recently when I got a new one of the same model, that older frame now has tinted lenses in it and ensures that I look cool in all lighting conditions.

Compared to plastic frames they're also much more repairable.

They cause itch on my gorgeous nose. And would get these red marks on my nose.

Also from my experience the silicone nose pad arm usually breaks (maybe I got lower quality)

Mine indeed never broke, despite me carelessly tossing them around the place. I even wore them to like 20 concerts over the years where they survived my advanced headbanging skills.

I guess my German nose is just more resilient than yours, ha! /s But I never had the silicone pads brake on me, not even on other, cheaper frames.
