Mostly of the weight loss would be water.
No carbs plus alcohol and coffee is just diuretics

Plus anything that was in your intestines / bowels. There's no fibre in there at all.
I used to have to "make weight" and water and empty intestines are the short version of how it's done.
Is that true? It wouldn't surprise me. When I was competing in that weight category sport I had a very skewed view of what I considered overweight (for me).
99% of the population would have considered me lean as fuck when I thought otherwise.
Protip: Use white wine instead of milk for your cereal. Turbo charge your morning shit by blending it together with four shots of espresso and a whole cigarette!
And your brain won't work because it requires at least 110 grams of carbs to function normally. Then you might start saying things like "if you're only eating protein you don't need fibre"
The avg person expending 2000 Calories a day means an ~850 Calorie deficit. 2550 deficit over the course of 3days. That allows about 3lbs of muscle (700C) loss or almost 1lb of fat (3000-3500C)loss.
Up the calories expended via being active and you could reach the 5lb goal. With such severe caloric deficit nost of the weight loss would be muscle unfortunately.
Isn't there enough protein in that diet to maintain the muscle?
If caloric intake was higher sure. Muscle breakdown is easier than fat so is a prime target in starvation diets to get energy. Results in long-lasting problems for people who have experienced famine or eating disorders. More moderate caloric deficits are healthier for a reason but obviously takes longer to lose weight.
There's a lot of variability in nutrition that can impact things but generally protein in the diet helps maintain and grow muscle but doesn't affect that when your body is starving for energy muscle tends to go more than fat.
Nutritional fads including the current lots of protein one are likely bunk or only for certain lifestyles.
They left out the cigarettes.
In the 70s, it's probably just a given.
Don't worry. You and everyone you know is chain-smoking cigarettes all the time. Nobody will notice.
The good ol days
Cigarettes used to make me need to shit really bad. I can't even imagine combining that with the Vogue diet of a boiled egg, glass of wine and black coffee. Sounds like a recipe for a day on the toilet!
I think we cracked the code. This "diet" is just bulimia with extra steps.
Yup, out the tail pipe instead of facing the toilet.
It was in fashion at the time. The all important question of "Do you fart with that ass?" was finally silenced for one glorious year.
Not a single vegetable or fruit either (because of course I'm not counting the wine or lemon juice.) At least throw in some celery for fiber.
I'm all for morning drinking, but pairing a dry white with boiled eggs just doesn't seem like a good match
I imagine that eating exactly the same thing for multiple days would get tiring to say the least, so at least a different preparation would be welcome. Probably not necessary in the literal sense, but in the sense that you "need" something different.
If you're staring at that hardboiled egg thinking. "I can't do it. I can't eat one more of those..."
Fine, if you're going to be a baby about it, poach it, instead
The crunch mostly.
I'd prefer Sauvignon Blanc but sacrifices have to be made.
Seems perfectly reasonable to me
Shit your guts out, the diet.
You get in prison, you'll have to eat 50 eggs
You forgot to hardboil eggs and need some quickly?
So get drunk and get skinny?
I don't think its working, I'm still fat.
P.S.
Its just a joke folks, you can chill
Lots of calories in beer. Need to move yourself over to neat spirits. Make sure that you spend all your money on them, so that you've nothing left to buy food. Then follow the diet posted above, but skip the eggs and replace the large glass of wine with a large glass of vodka. You'll lose a tonne of weight.
My old boss lost a load of weight when he switched from drinking beer to white wine spritzers when he was working. Did have to then switch to fizzy water after his wife gave him an earful for coming home drunk all the time though.
Like 30 years ago we used to have something called “wine coolers”. I don’t really see those anymore. There’s like Smirnoff Ice and Mikes Hard lemonade. Is that pretty much the same thing? Seems like the additional sugar would negate any weight loss when switching from beer.
No, it's just a 50:50 mix of white wine and soda water, so it has about half the calories of white wine. Very easy to drink a lot of in a hot kitchen though, so it's still a lot of wine.
Not that I'm encouraging drinking problems but this helped keep my weight in check in covid lock downs: Get Drunk, Not Fat
I think you'd be better off just not eating for three days, only drinking water.
It makes me wonder if the alcohol is to distract you. Lol
Oh, it is. Basically some wine over “fml” so it’s more tolerable.
At least they added caffeine, which is often added in weight loss remedies to bump up metabolism, and that does have some science behind it.
This will technically do what it says on the tin but there are definitely better diets to achieve the same, haha.
And if you're anything like me, counting calories will be going out the window pretty shortly after polishing off that daily bottle.
White wine with steak? Blasphemy!
The white wine was for the eggs, which works, and the steak is just collateral because finishing the bottle.
Where’s the problem?
You can substitute beer for the wine. Remember Kiddies, there is a pork chop's worth of calories in every bottle! This is why diabetics prefer beer of a real chop! ./////JKing!
This is NOT accurate dietary and medical advice!
Gen Xers would've been at most 12 y/o when this was printed, Boomers would've been their most likely target demographic, being at most 32 y/o at the time.
Fair, I was going to try to say something about how there could be indirect effects but couldn't get the wording right
This comes from a book published in 1962 so more like Silent gen or maybe Boomers
I had to wait until college to discover day drinking, why didn't the men's magazines BITD discuss this topic
Who says Americans don’t use the metric system?
It’s been around since Ancient Rome. They didn’t call it psychology, but where they put the Flavian Arena (aka. “The Colliseum”) is done to increase patronage. Additionally, stoking the crowd to foment an opinion agreeable to the State (e.g. the Emperor in Ancient Rome) was strong using theatrics.
Basically a Four Loko diet.
Its the real life version of the Butterfield Diet

1 bottle of white ~ 600 calories
3 hard boiled eggs - 225 calories
5 oz steak ~ 325 calories
For a total of 1150 calories. You'll need to be pretty active for a 5 lbs loss but you'd definitely lose some weight on this diet. Now I do not envy the heinous shits a diet of pure protein, coffee, and white wine will give you
