Just listen to ska in the summer and metal the rest of the year
I listen to funk in September, metal in October and November, Christmas songs in December, and Irish music in March.
I also listen to Christmas songs in December.
That's called third-wave ska, also called ska punk.
It wasn't the end of ska because arguably there's been a fourth wave since then
Yes, I'm a huge fan of the third wave. In my opinion, the song Sound System by Operation Ivy is the perfect blend. Is it punk? Yes! Is it ska? Also yes!
So long and thanks for all the shoes…
Yes! I agree 100%. That's why I buy non black tshirts nowadays. These are the latest acquisitions:
White is not very flattering to the average metalhead figure, and also does not hide spilled beer
White metal, the ultimate underground you haven't heard of yet, you poser
I think that's called Pantera
Dammit, that got me lol. That's a literal lol right there. Fuck me, that was a good one
Is it weird that I just thought about white goth aesthetic as a parallel to those all white PC builds? I don't think I've seen 'white goth theme' done before and am kinda curious if it would look good.
You're close. Not 'white goth'...
Pastel Goth:

Arguably many variants of the older, harajuku gothic lolita style can/have also been done in primarily white or lighter colors.
This is a more modern dress and pic, but I think you could find examples of similar going back to at least the 90s:

... there's also now... clown core, and clown goth, but ... just no, nope, you're gonna have to personally choose to look for that, I'm not just gonna force you to see it.
EDIT:
I suppose if we carry forward trends in PC case styling... to fashion... well, we would somehow have to end up with dresses or suits with wood grain pattern elements or accents.
... Not sure if that exists yet.
Can you make a ruffled fringe out of wood, lol?
Or like, wood grain patterned corset, you know, the trunk?
Leaf ears instead of cat ears?
Bonsai Core? Bonsai Goth?
Ok, pretty sure I'm delerious, time for bed now.
Xyla did a good job with that, the details on the bottom are actually inset pices of wood. Still quite stiff but looked better than the carbon fibre one imo.
I had no idea all those styles! Honestly, thank you. It was one of those things where I've never really looked it up or thought of it, and of course it's been done. Doesn't look all that bad. Not quite what I was thinking, but JUST white would be kinda... I dunno. Wouldn't work without a little contrast.
pastel goth is underrated

(...) and am kinda curious if it would look good.
Spoiler: It doesn't
Hummakavula?!
FYI: Those are not Catholics. They were the bosses of the neo-revelationist UFO cult "Fiat Lux".
It has been done, sometimes with additional flavors (Victorian inspired, visual-kei inspired...). Google: "White Goth". Also "White Goth WGT" to see outfits people have worn during the Wave-Gotik-Treffen.
There's also a pop music aesthetic called 'bubble goth' or 'bubblegum goth', as exemplified in Army of Love music video by Kerli.
I have a colleague who’s into metal. Always wears a band shirt, always in black. As you’d expect. Except on VERY rare days where she runs out of those or if it’s indeed just too hot to wear black.
It’s downright jarring to see her in anything except black. Looks like a completely different person.
I do imagine it’s nice to be a female metal fan. Never have to worry about what to wear or what colors to match 😂
There was a brief era in the 2000's where bands from pop-punk to metal-core released super bright coloured shirts (like fluro-bright) with over the top cartoon artwork, it was a nice change.
Also you can get pink metal shorts/jumpers that go pretty hard (i have only seen these worn by men though)
That must’ve been quite a shock for the average metalhead, fluorescent shirts :D
As a guy who loves bright rainbow shit, I certainly would be the weirdo opting for pink over black.
Funny enough the colleague I mentioned supposedly has a fully pastel pink decorated house. Metal on the outside, Barbie on the inside! I sure do love the dichotomy.
For reference, they looked like this:

(Although these pictures dont do the colours justice, some looked straight up radioactive neon like they woukd glow in the dark)
Those are awesome! Definitely would’ve worn a few of those back in the day.
Mid 2000s mallcore. Hated it then, am nostalgic for it now. Definitely guilty pleasure music haha
Nice, dinosaur comics reference
I know a woman who went goth specifically for that reason. And it's why I stick to a lot of black in my clothes and cosmetics. Black lipstick goes with everything
Lets engineer a shirt that looks black in the visible spectrum but is white in everything else.
Could probably just take a black shirt and smother it in sunscreen. Apparently, you would want "mineral sunscreen", which aims to reflect the UV light rather than just absorbing it.
No guarantees that it's actually still black afterwards, though. 🙃
That's not the problem, since she is hot anyway.
the only white shirt metalheads have is reserved for the next GWAR concert
Well sure they're red now
No, we suffer in black
I’ve got a good few, but they are local bands, so it was likely a cost decision, but I definitely sport them more when it’s hot.
I’ll sweat balls in my Conan shirts without a second thought, though. Because fuckin’ Conan.
All hail Volt Thrower.
I was very relieved by the end of that sentence.
Why does she look like a render from a 2010 era game? Took me a while to figure out it's an actual photograph.
Looks like the sign is shopped, so it makes the rest of it look weird with the contrast.
I got a bright blue cattle decap shirt and a few white lorna shore shirts
No, white clothing does reflect more heat than black clothing. However the answer to which is better to wear in hot weather is "it's complicated", the TL;DR is that for tight clothes white is better, for loose clothing black and white are the same.
So the fit of the clothing is actually more important than the colour. However, if you are going to be wearing tight-fitting clothing, then stick with white. Fabrics with texture – such as seersucker or pique, a fabric often used in sports polo shirts – also help to lift clothing off your skin, rather than staying snug and tight-fitting.
I think it also depends on how hot it is, since anything more reflective (a white shirt) is also more insulating. So if it's just kind of hot out, black would probably be better.
Light gets converted into heat, white rejects more light before it can do that.
Colors work by which parts of the light spectrum get absorbed and which get reflected. A shirt that absorbs most wavelengths, but largely reflects green, will look green.
And in that same vein, colors will appear darker, if less light is reflected in general. So, a white shirt may reflect 90+% of light, whereas a black shirt may absorb 90+% of light.
And ultimately, absorption means that the light's energy is turned into warmth. So yeah, a darker shirt heats up more in the sun.
I enjoy the wool sports coat with long sleeve starched white shirt and the pencil thin black tie and fedora hat. While listening to the sweet voice of queen Ella singing the Blues and drinking a martini.
Now that's hot!
Ella...the greatest singer of all time. Literally perfect.
For me it's cat fur - if I so much as THINK about my cats, my black t-shirts are absolutely blanketed. No amount of brushing or lint rolling is sufficient to eliminate the problem, so I just don't wear black.
This girl is so fine I try to give an upvote everytime I see this but I only have one 😞
You can thank Rob Halford for popularizing the Gay Leather Daddy aesthetic among straight metalheads who didn't know any better.
I want her to use my face as a chair.

Don't be an ass and try to keep the gatekeeping and whatnot to a minimum. Memes from all sorts of metal genres and bands are welcome here.

That's why I stopped listening to metal. Too hot in the summer.
