We’ve just had the baby sleep consultant come by. I didn’t have high hopes, in my mind it was just a starting point as it’s the free council service and the advice we got from our maternal child health nurse did not work for us at all.

But I have been pleasantly surprised! She was really nice and the approach she has suggested sounds a lot more suitable for us. It’s going to be a hard 3+ week journey to change baby’s sleep habits. Really hoping at the end of it we will see some better sleep!! I am so tired!!

RIP our espresso machine; 16 years of great service, but the water tank thingy is manky as fuck and it can't be cleaned beyond what we've already tried. It's like the lining has melted, and that can't be good for consuming, but the replacement tanks have been discontinued. Good news for those who aren't using Reddit anymore: this DT has almost twice as many comments as the one on Reddit. Thats good for us, since I and a few others were expecting a lot of people to zoom on back to Reddit the moment the sub reopened

One interesting thing I noted from a quick flick through, there seems to be a lot less replies to comments, but a similar amount or maybe even more upvotes than usual. Makes sense since the sub has about 600k members, and like 95% lurk (what's that effect called again? The 90-9-1 rule I think?)

It probably won't last though, I don't think we'll lose many people just put of losing interest at this point, but since Reddit is by far the larger platform and r/Melbourne the larger community, it's just kinda basic maths that eventually more people will go to the larger community on the larger platform and start engaging there. But at least we have cemented ourselves as a solid alternative Melbourne community off Reddit!

For those who remember the saga from last week, the Flybuys points were put on.
But as an attempt to lure me back to shopping at Coles, it's pretty much had the opposite effect.

I woke up about 445am. Cats somehow know as soon as I wake up and I have to get up because they fuss about, start playing and the little kitten gets up in my face and sits on the laptop i have next to the bed I play youtubes on to lull me back to sleep. Little angels. Going to take my anti-anxiety/sleeping meds early tonight so I can get my circadian rhythm in line with their 5am wake time and not have to try and live everyday on 5 hours sleep.

I start every day now with an AA meeting. I found an amazing 24/7 online group and a wonderful sponsor from the US outta there. I thought I'd have trouble with the higher power stuff but I was obviously ready to begin a spiritual path to become a better person in the world and more helpful.

More volunteer work for trans people today. I'm embroiled in it again this week as a couple of people couldn't work. Have tomorrow off, but back into it on Thursday. I'm on my way to a b cup now!!! Omg they feel so special and sacred. I'm in tears and euphoric. The extra oestrogen I'm taking now has also brought a bit of libido on but of course female desire is so much different to male testosterone arousal. I'm a fuckin girl for real!! Woohoo

I’ve missed the DT for a few days.

Been trying to deal with this ear infection (ongoing since Thursday). GP is switching me to anti-fungal treatment (gross to think about). I’m so frustrated over the ongoing pain, lack of sleep & blocked hearing.

This was also meant to be my first week off work in 8 months (and I’d planned to be job searching to escape my toxic workplace). Thinking of returning to work likely still dealing with this ear BS makes me cry.

My co-worker somehow managed to interview and land a new job within two weeks whereas meanwhile I've been applying and interviewing for roles in the same areas over the last few months with no success and feedback ranging from 'we hired internally', 'too much experience' and 'not enough experience'...ugh maybe I just suck at my job.

Warm heaters are good! I hope mine continues to last. It has its moments where it won’t work and then it does. It’s started getting too cold for me not to have a heater on at some point throughout the day/night.

Just finished booking all of the hotels for the US trip. Thanks to my parents' history of being degenerate gamblers, mum has talked the hotels in Vegas and Laughlin into comping my rooms so it looks like my total accommodation cost for this trip will be about $1500. Not too bad 🙃

I'm not gaming a whole lot at the moment, but I did put a few hours into D4 on Sunday/Monday, around household chores, partner time, appointments, whatevs, yet my brain decided to give me a dream where my partner broke up with me via D4. Thanks, brain.

Back in melbs after much driving yesterday and today. I've grown to really like long country drives. After a very long resistance to listening to podcasts in the car I think I'm converted. Just starting with Radio National for now.

I also inexplicably have developed angular cheilitis (corners of mouth are cracked and sore) over the last few days and now I've got a pair of mouth ulcers on the top and bottom lip near them as well. Not fun.

But overall, a fantastic few days off.

What a day! Hand stretched around 200+ pizza bases and hand peeled 60kg of potatoes. Bought avocado on the way home because guacamole is Miss Peeler's latest food obsession. She and I made said guacamole when I got home. Took some time to admire my young Mr Peeler's new avatar on WWE 2K22 and observe his wrestling game. Did a load of washing (just remembered I haven't hung it up yet. D'oh!) Cooked dinner, did my exercises (day 3) cleaned the bathroom a bit and helped Mr Peeler (Luddite) with phone tech issues. Now I am laying in bed just blobbing out. But I must hang the damn washing. Bugger!

EDIT: For anyone so inclined, the issue is with the Col references. Replace them with the lettering (Eg: Col1 becomes A, Col5 becomes E) resolves the issue. But if you're not so inclined, fuck'em

Mrs thinks the TV is dying. It keeps playing sound even if its off, sometimes when you turn it on it doesnt wake the soundbar, lots of weird little shit like that. We got it just as covid got serious so its what, 3 years old? and whilst I've never loved the "smart" side of things (Hisense proprietary OS, not android or WebOS) its an OLED so the picture is second to none. We have a real strange love/hate thing going on.

A culinary travesty for dinner tonight. One pack of "Mexican" salad (mostly lettuce, with a dressing containing spices reminiscent of Old El Pasto taco seasoning) mixed with some of the chicken fajita filling I made a while ago that didn't taste quite right. It worked surprisingly well.

In 2020, returned a laptop after 5 months after the RAM went bad. Then got the new one replaced a month later for a similar issue. The replacement has been going strong since then.

In 2021, returned a Samsung watch after 3 weeks when the o2 sensor burnt my wrist. JB Hifi also raised a personal injury report.

In 2022 bought a gaming mouse. Scroll wheel stopped working properly nearly a year later. Got it replaced... Now 5 months later the power switch is not working properly so it keeps turning off at the worst possible times during fights.
