Yeah here I'm pretty sure it's the driver gets a fine and the passenger too if they're over 16yo
Okay yeah I looked it up its the same here. Both passenger and driver if the passenger is over 16.
I'm surprised they don't enforce it for passengers 16 and under. Seatbelts are important for them too.
The driver still has to pay for it, which is usually going to be your parents, who would probably be footing the bill anyways if you're that young.
The other guy summed it up, but I'd like to add that children can't be held to the same standards as adults. Still developing brains and all that jazz, which is why it becomes the adults responsibility.
And for good reason. A single unbelted person in the car is a serious threat to everyone else in an accident. You could end up paying for it with your life if you let it slide. I think the statistic is something like a 20% increased risk of death in an accident when a single passenger is unbuckled.
And I hate that "aren't you a good driver" idiocy. Sure, but aren't all those other drivers on the road the worst?
I've read some stories about this happening from people who work in the ER. Having someone else's teeth pulled from your skull doesn't sound like the best way to go.
I kind of wonder if these people understand momentum.
That's interesting, in Germany aslong as the passenger is an adult it's no longer the drivers responsibility whether that passenger cares about their own safety. The fines go up fast for children though.
It used to be similiar here, but they changed things around a decade ago
This is the way.
Or: Don't break the law while you're breaking the law
Never commit a misdemeanor while you're committing a felony.
Incidentally, check all your lights before pulling out of your spot. Many a bag has been confiscated over a busted light.
Even that's not foolproof. My wife and I were once pulled over in her car while driving home late at night from an out-of-state event, by some podunk South Carolina cop for having a light that "wasn't as bright as it should be." Spoiler alert: there wasn't a damn thing wrong with it.
Because I (a white guy) was in the car with her, nothing happened and we were shortly sent on our way, but part of me wonders if that would've been the case if she (a black woman) had been alone.
having a light that "wasn't as bright as it should be."
Too many people are getting these ultra bright LED lights that shine with the intensity of a thousand supernova.
I'm sorry but my 2012 car has an incandescent bulb which is still perfectly safe even if it cannot illuminate the next two hundred miles of road.
Halogens sometimes dim over time, so if you still have the original headlight bulbs, you might consider replacing them. I just replaced the bulbs in our 2014 vehicle for that reason, and the new ones are a bit brighter. But, I agree with your points in general.
Most of the LEDs that are a problem for me are the aftermarket ones. I don't usually have an issue with the ones that are on cars designed for them, fortunately.
I once got pulled over because my "driver's side tires touched the center line around that corner." But I kept my mouth shut because I had just passed a speed limit sign without having completely slowed down so I was technically still doing 30mph over the limit when I got pulled over. Pretty sure the cop knew that and just didn't want to ticket me. It was 1AM so I'm pretty sure he was just fishing for drunks so when he found out I wasn't drunk and that I'm white he just let me go.
It's such bullshit they get the benefit of the doubt because: Am PoLiCe MaN.
I just passed under a light and it must have just changed to red as I passed under it because it 100% was yellow the whole time I could see it. I noticed the cop in the parking lot on one of the corners of the intersection start to move. He pulls out and pulls me over, I fight the ticket, and in court this mother fucker says "I (the cop) was sitting at the intersection and my light was green for almost 10 seconds when they (me) ran the red light." ...in the intersection and the parking lot at the same time. We have quantum police apparently.
Fuck that pig...
When I was a teen driver in the 90s, my rule was seatbelts or get the fuck out. If they fought me on it, I described to them in excruciating detail what my aunt looked like after a semi hit her car and she wasn't wearing a seatbelt. She was unrecognizable as a human being.. and she lived. Imagine looking like that while still alive. Put on your fucking seatbelt.
As in pieces?
that too
I too, choose this guy's barely alove aunt.
hell yeah, lfg
Fake
anon has friends
Gay
anon slams his bro
that‘s what really killed me, true anon shit to just turn back around in the end
True anon shit to have their friend start a sentence with “lol” and for their head to hit the windshield instead of the dash too
We can obviously assume that OP was a coward and just drove quietly to the dealer and back and upon returning home sat at his computer and told his online buddies what he would've said if he wasn't such a wimp.
Is there a fake and gay bot yet?
Fake, 40mph head slam is a trip to the hospital minimum; you can slam someone into the dash just by letting the car roll from idle and then hitting the brakes (if it's a v6 or thereabouts in typical displacement). I know 'cause I tried it once not realizing how badly I would make them hit the dash. I just thought I would make them jerk forward a little and scare them. Seat material matters, of course, in my case it was fake leather/vinyl.
Almost like a kid in a kindergarden.

Where I live, the driver gets the ticket if the passenger has no seatbelt. The car doesn't move unless everyone is buckled in, because I'm not paying for someone else's laziness.
